It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a dedicated member of our Public Works team this past Friday.

A valued employee since 2011, Jeff Gargano served the City as a Recycle Driver. Throughout his 15 years of service, he was known for his reliability and commitment to keeping our community clean. His presence will be deeply missed by his colleagues and the residents he served.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Did you know that anything that measures approximately 2 inches by 2 inches or smaller should be disposed of in the trash rather than placed in curbside recycling. This guideline is due to small items that fall through sorting screens, contaminate material streams (particularly glass), or become lodged in processing equipment, causing disruptions.

As a result, commonly used small items—such as pill bottles, straws, bottle caps (when loose), shredded paper, single-serve coffee pods (K-cups), miniature liquor bottles (“nippers”), and packing peanuts— should be discarded in the trash.

Following these guidelines helps improve the efficiency of recycling systems, reduces contamination, and supports the production of higher-quality recyclable materials.
