As a new set of candidates take the 2026 stage representing Bristol and our Party, we take a moment to remember former City Councilor Cliff Block, who recently passed away in Florida.

Cliff represented the 1st District for 2 terms and also served as the liaison to the Fire Commission. His personality was larger than life, and his gregarious nature disarmed even the crankiest of constituents and created synergy among the Council as well as the organizations in which he was involved, including the Bristol BPOE Elks 1010.

We remember him today and thank him for his service. Rest easy, Cliff.

"Hi everyone- as many of you have now heard I have made the decision to run for the House of Representatives in the 78th District representing the town of Plymouth and a portion of Bristol.

To the residents of Bristol and Plymouth, and to all who knew and loved Sean Moore:

Stepping up to run for public office takes immense courage, deep conviction, and a genuine love for your community. This past spring, when Sean Moore launched his campaign to serve Connecticut’s 78th District in the House of Representatives, he brought an unmatched level of energy, optimism, and integrity to our towns.

When we tragically lost Sean after his brief but courageous battle with cancer, it left a profound void across Bristol and Plymouth.

Sean spent decades quietly and faithfully building up the community he loved. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.

His 20 years of service on the Board of Fire Commissioners—where he fiercely advocated for our local firefighters—and his work with local building and wetlands committees proved that his dedication to public service wasn't about politics.

It was about people. When Sean recently retired from his professional career, his final advice to those around him was to "carry on and strive for excellence every day."

It is in that very spirit—and with the heaviest of hearts—that I have made the decision to step forward and carry the torch he so beautifully lit.

Stepping into this race in Sean’s place is one of the greatest honors of my life, but it is also a tremendous responsibility. I am not running to replace Sean; no one can fill his shoes.

I am running to ensure that the vision he fought for, the community values he protected, and the winning foundation he built over those months are carried all the way to Hartford.

To Nancy, Mallory, Ryan, and the entire Moore family: we stand with you, we grieve with you, and we promise to honor Sean's memory. As we move forward into November, this campaign will be fueled by Sean's passion, structured by his dedication, and guided by his call to strive for excellence.

Calling All Democrats!
Bristol Dems are eligible to vote in the First Congressional and Gubernatorial Primaries Early voting dates: August 3–9, 2026. Hours: 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. daily; extended hours 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. on Thursday August 6.

Early voting happens on the ground floor of City Hall. You can park in front and take the elevator down one level, and then take a right out of the elevator and then a left into the main corridor. If you park in the Laurel St. side parking lot, use the side door and choose the ramp or the 4 steps down, and the Early Voting Room is on the right.

For Primary Day, Tues. August 11th, regular polling places are open from 6am-8pm. There is still time for absentee ballots! Send us a message if you need one.

Same-day voter registration is not available for the Primary — it applies only to the November General Election.

In Memoriam
A tremendous crowd turned out on Thursday and Friday of this week to mourn the loss of Sean Moore.

A well respected businessman, community volunteer - and for 3 months - a candidate for State Representative in the 78th District.

The level of excitement that Sean's candidacy brought to Bristol and Plymouth was only matched by the level of disbelief that ripped through the community with the news of his diagnosis.

We acknowledge Sean's commitment to his family, the Bristol Fire Department, and the many other circles of friends that enriched his life.

In just a few weeks, Sean had built a campaign foundation that was on a winning track. The Bristol and Plymouth Democratic Town Committees are working together to ensure his work is not in vain.

Stay tuned, and please keep Nancy, Ryan, Mallory and the entire family and community who loved Sean in your thoughts and prayers.

🎉 Congratulations to State Representative Mary Fortier on earning an “A” rating from the Connecticut Education Association (CEA) for her work during the 2025–26 legislative session!

This recognition reflects her commitment to supporting Connecticut’s students, educators, and public schools by advancing policies that strengthen our educator workforce, expand student supports, and improve teaching and learning conditions.

We’re proud to have Mary representing Bristol at the State Capitol and grateful for her continued advocacy for public education.
