The Town of Bristol is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide comprehensive cleaning and janitorial services at designated Town buildings. The goal is to maintain safe,
clean, sanitary, and presentable facilities for employees, residents, and visitors.

The resulting contract will be a multi‑year agreement for routine cleaning, periodic deep cleaning, and specialized services (as needed) and as the Town Budget allows.

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) is expecting concentrations of fine particle air pollution to reach Code Orange/USG levels statewide for Thursday July 16. A Code Orange Air Quality Alert means that air pollution concentrations may become unhealthy for sensitive groups (USG).

NHDES officials are calling for a Code Orange/USG Air Quality Alert Day and advise sensitive individuals to take precautions to protect their health by limiting prolonged outdoor exertion. Sensitive individuals include children and older adults; anyone with lung disease such as asthma, emphysema, and bronchitis; and people who are active outdoors. Even healthy individuals may experience mild health effects and should consider limiting strenuous or prolonged outdoor activities.

The fine particle air pollution event is the result of extensive wildfires in central and western Canada. Wind patterns are transporting plumes of smoke from these fires across much of the Northeast and New Hampshire. In addition to the health effects, these smoke plumes can also cause a hazy appearance in the sky. The smoke may even be noticeable by smell during hours of higher concentration. Conditions are expected to improve on Friday afternoon but there is potential for the smoke plumes to persist.

The severity of health effects increases as fine particle concentrations increase. Symptoms of fine particle exposure may include chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, and difficulty breathing. People with asthma and other existing lung diseases may not be able to breathe as deeply or vigorously as normal and may experience symptoms such as coughing and shortness of breath.
