Today, officers from the Bristol Police Department proudly participated in the Special Olympics of Rhode Island Torch Run alongside our law enforcement partners from Portsmouth Police, Warren Police, Barrington Police, and East Providence Police.

We would also like to thank all of the elementary school students who came out to cheer us on as we ran through town. Your energy and encouragement meant a great deal to all of the participants!

A special shoutout goes to Ptlm. Adam Almeida, who completed the entire East Bay leg of the Torch Run — an incredible 15-mile run from the Bristol Police Station to the East Providence Police Station. Outstanding job representing our department and supporting such a great cause!

The Bristol Police Department is proud to participate in a statewide initiative honoring fallen Jamestown Police Officer Ryan Bourque, who was tragically killed by an impaired driver on May 23, 2016.

Throughout the month, Bristol Police cruisers will display memorial ribbon decals in remembrance of Officer Bourque and all victims of impaired driving. Nearly ten years later, his service and sacrifice continue to be remembered across Rhode Island’s law enforcement community.

The Bristol Police Department joins the Jamestown Police Department in honoring Officer Bourque’s legacy while encouraging everyone to make responsible choices and never drive impaired.
