Happy Birthday, Firefighter Greg Swain! 🎉

Greg is currently deployed overseas serving with the Vermont Air National Guard, and while he’s celebrating far from home this year, his Bristol Fire Department family is thinking of him.

Please join us in wishing Greg a very happy birthday and a safe deployment. Drop a birthday message for him in the comments so we can share some hometown support from Bristol! 🇺🇸🚒

Merry Christmas from the Bristol Fire Department.

Today, we’re thinking of everyone who can’t be home for the holidays—those working shifts, answering calls, and supporting their communities so others can celebrate safely.

Wherever you’re spending the day, thank you for what you do. Stay safe and have a Merry Christmas.

Incident Roll-Up – Drake Woods Rd

This afternoon, Bristol Fire was dispatched to the area of 453 Drake Woods Road for a report of an overturned vehicle with an occupant trapped. Heavy Rescue and Engine 1 responded, operating alongside Bristol Rescue Squad.

Bristol Rescue confirmed the occupant had already self-extricated, so our role shifted from technical rescue to what we handle on countless calls every year: managing the incident so everyone stays safe and operations run smoothly.

On a narrow, blind curve in winter conditions, firefighters established a traffic plan, controlled one lane, and positioned apparatus to shield the ambulance and responders. These steps may not grab attention, but they’re exactly what prevents secondary crashes and ensures EMS can focus on patient care without interruption.

Today didn’t require tools or complicated maneuvers—just solid, practiced fundamentals that make the whole system work. That’s the heart of what we do.

🔥 Incident Response – Mutual Aid to New Haven

This afternoon, Bristol Fire was dispatched mutual aid to New Haven for a fully involved shed fire. Upon arrival, the structure was already a total loss, but coordinated efforts on scene prevented the fire from extending to the nearby home.

Mutual aid is a critical part of the fire service in Addison County, and we’re proud to support New Haven Volunteer Fire Department when the call comes in.
Bristol responded with Engine 1, Engine 2, and Heavy Rescue.
