We apologize for not broadcasting the cancellation of the comedy show previously scheduled for tonight.

The cancellation was due to 2 main factors.
1. The lack of interest and engagement on the event advertisement here on FB. Liking and sharing our events and posts helps us gauge the support we will receive at any function we do put on.

2. Another venue in town is hosting the same production company, albeit with some different comedians, next week. This venue has a much larger reach than we do and the resources to provide the show for free to their patrons. We predicted this would hurt our turnout.

Now, as I hope many know and realize, us veterans at the VFW are a complete volunteer staff. Every penny we earn goes to maintaining and repairing our facility, flag upkeep and a fund to repair our displays. Each of these items have gone up in cost while support for the VFW specifically has gone down over the years (feel free to inquire about any of these, as we are as transparent as state law requires us to be).

All that to say, this comedy show would have cost us money given the 2 factors listed above and that is something we just can't afford at the moment. The point is to raise money, not lose it.
