The w**d doesn't need pulling. It needs reading. Most w**ds in your garden are flags planted by the soil itself — broadcasting the problem underneath.

Fix the condition it's signaling and the w**d loses its advantage. The plants you actually want take over on their own.

- Dandelions → compacted soil with low calcium. Their deep taproot is doing what you should be doing — breaking through hardpan and pulling minerals up from below. Aerate the area and topdress with compost, and dandelions lose their edge to everything around them
- Clover → low nitrogen. Clover thrives where other plants struggle because it manufactures its own nitrogen from the air. Add compost or aged manure and the soil feeds everything equally
- Broadleaf plantain → acidic, compacted clay. It shows up along paths, beside walkways, anywhere feet have pressed the ground flat. Core aerate and topdress — once the soil structure opens back up, plantain struggles to compete
- Chickw**d → rich, moist soil. This one is a compliment, not a complaint. It means your ground has genuine fertility. If it's spreading, the issue is usually excess moisture or poor drainage, not poor nutrition
- Purslane → high phosphorus and productive ground. Before you pull it — purslane is a nutrient-dense wild edible green. The soil is telling you it's already thriving, and the w**d is the proof

One w**d per diagnosis. The soil wrote the prescription.
