πŸ“’ Weather Update – National Night Out

We have been closely monitoring today's forecast and have been in communication with the US National Weather Service Raleigh NC . At this time, we are planning to proceed with National Night Out at the Broadway Community Center as originally scheduled.

While there is a possibility of a brief passing shower, current forecasts continue to change, and we have decided to remain optimistic. And hey, worst-case scenario, we got a water slide already so you can just join in on the fun!

We look forward to seeing everyone from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for an evening of community fellowship, local first responders, family activities, free food, and much more. See you at the Broadway Community Center this evening! πŸš’πŸš“πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

⚠️ Public Safety Reminder ⚠️

We would like to remind everyone of North Carolina's Move Over Law.

Last night, while emergency responders and utility crews were working to secure a hazardous scene in rainy conditions with limited visibility, multiple vehicles sped past the incident with little to no regard for the people working just feet away from equipment and personnel in the roadway. This behavior is not only dangerous, it is also against the law and puts firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, utility workers, and other motorists at unnecessary risk.

When you see emergency vehicles, tow trucks, utility crews, or NCDOT vehicles stopped with flashing lights:
🚨 Slow Down.
🚨 Move Over if it is safe to do so.
🚨 If you cannot safely change lanes, significantly reduce your speed and proceed with caution.

Everyone working on the side of the road deserves to go home safely at the end of their shift. A few extra seconds of patience can save a life. Please help us keep our responders, utility crews, and our community safe.

Over the past several days, our area has experienced multiple incidents involving downed power lines. These situations are extremely dangerous and should never be taken lightly.

If you encounter a downed power line:
β€’ Stay at least 30 feet away.
β€’ Assume every line is energized.
β€’ Never drive over or walk near a downed wire.
β€’ Keep children and pets away.
β€’ Immediately report the hazard by calling 911.

Thank you to the partnerships that helped us mitigate all the hazards we faced this weekend. North Carolina Department of Transportation / Central Electric Membership Corp / N.C. Forest Service / Sanford/Lee County 911 Communications
