Summer recap from CDT Rendon and CDT Foster‼️

This summer, these cadets attended an Army National Guard Annual Training in Ft. Indian Town Gap, Pennsylvania with 642 Air Support Battalion. This annual training consisted of Individual Weapons Qualifications with M4s, H8 Mire Pit training exercises, Medical Simulation Training Center exercises with combat medics, a bit of quality time with Crew Serve Weapons, and a culminating Field Training Exercise with a “massive casualty” event.

Rendon and Foster are both Simultaneous Membership Program cadets. The SMP program allows college students to be enlisted soldiers in the Army National Guard, as well as Army ROTC. There are many benefits to this program such as NYS tuition assistance, monthly drill pay, and additional experience shadowing Army officers in a National Guard unit.

It’s safe to say that without being an SMP cadet, this kind of training would be hard to come across for an ROTC cadet! Great to see the fun you've both had Freedom Eagles🦅

Today, we have a summer recap from CDT Kennedy!

As we know Kennedy graduated from the 3rd Regiment of CST. His platoon was the highest-performing in B Co during STX lanes, land navigation, and first aid. He met other great cadets who helped him perform as a squad leader throughout his training.

Kennedy also attended the Cadet Troop Leader Training in Alaska! CTLT is a 3-4 week program where ROTC and West Point cadets shadow platoon leaders in active duty units. During these few weeks, Kennedy was able to witness or experience what a typical day of training is like for the infantry and combat engineers. A few things he mentioned that were truly captivating were the airborne jumps, taking charge during the STX lanes, the preparation of obstacles in an urban breaching range, and of course the view of the mountains!

Very exciting summer for CDT Kennedy! We hope to hear more stories from you when the semester officially starts!

Cadet Schmitz | Nurse Summer Training Program

This summer, Cadet Schmitz participated in the Nurse Summer Training Program (NSTP) at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, Texas—the only Level I Trauma Center in the Department of Defense. During the program, Cadet Schmitz gained valuable hands-on experience by observing various medical units and developing clinical skills.

A highlight of the training was a field day focused on trauma care, where cadets practiced responding to medical emergencies in a high-stress environment. The experience provided an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge while building confidence, teamwork, and clinical readiness.

Outside of training, Cadet Schmitz had the opportunity to explore downtown San Antonio and experience the city on the weekends, providing a chance to recharge and connect with fellow cadets.

“NSTP gave me the opportunity to step outside the classroom and experience what military nursing looks like in a real clinical environment. The skills, experiences, and lessons I gained this summer will continue to shape me as I work toward becoming an Army Nurse.”

Last, but certainly not least, we celebrate Cadet Parkin who has completed Cadet Summer Training with the 7th regiment!

Graduating from CST is one of the biggest steps into becoming an Army Officer. The Freedom Eagles are very proud of our cadet and we are excited to see how much you will accomplish in the next few semesters as our Company Commander.

Congratulations Parkin for crossing Advanced Camp off of your list!

Congratulations to Cadet Miller for completing Basic Training!

He was unfortunately not in the same company as our other cadets who have also completed Basic. However, he made a few more friendships that will surely last a lifetime. The new warrior skills that have been learned will be applicable to not only the rest of his career in ROTC, but also in life!

We are so proud of you Miller! Fight to win!

Update on Cadets' Race and Weir: they are building their confidence on the confidence course!

The U.S. Army Confidence Course is an obstacle course designed to help soldiers overcome physical fear—particularly heights and hesitation—while building confidence in their own strength, agility, and endurance.

This course will not only aid in their ability to overcome and withstand high pressure in camp, but also once they lead a platoon as an Army officer as well!

Good luck with the rest of your time at Basic Training, Freedom Eagles!
