Moreover, the organization is supported by three professional staff members and advised by

the Office of Campus Life. BSG is also the umbrella organization for over sixty student organizations and clubs categorized into four groups: academic, cultural, fine arts, and service. As its mission the Brockport Student Government strives to provide students with support services, programming for both social and academic activities, and opportunities for student excellence. This goal is shared at least in part by the Office of Residential and could not be achieved without its’ assistance. Every student club or organization that is recognized by the College at Brockport is funded by the Brockport Student Government and lead by elected students. Examples of which are the national award winning college newspaper The Stylus, and the nationally renowned college radio station WBSU 89.1 The Point. Each club varies according to their mission and members, however, in addition to each clubs’ personal individuality they all share the same foundational principles of providing students with opportunities outside the classroom to follow their passion, productively fraternize with their fellow students, and compliment the academic portion of their collegiate career. The basic services that the Brockport Student Government offers students are designed to offer low cost or free options for common necessities. The facilities and opportunity to print (regular documents and printers), laminate, copy, notarize, and fax documents is offered in the BSG Main Office, located in the Seymour College Union at severely discounted cost. Legal advice and consultation are provided students for free by the Brockport Student Government’s attorney. Furthermore, in conjunction with the Orleans Transit Service, BSG provides free transportation at nearly all times of day on campus, throughout the Brockport community, and the greater Rochester area. Dozens of intramural sports teams and recreational athletic organizations are sponsored by the Brockport Student Government including football, ultimate Frisbee, and ice hockey. Students are provided a free off-campus housing list which is composed and maintained by BSG. These services share the common function of supporting the efforts of students during their collegiate career at the lowest possible cost. Brockport Student Government’s most recognized presence on campus is the programming that it provides students. During its over forty years of operation BSG has presented chart topping musical artists in concert, world renowned speakers for academic lectures of all disciplines, and a plethora of social events. Attendance at the aforementioned events is offered to students in large proportion for free. In fact, BSG’s programming activities have become a staple of a student’s collegiate career and an integral part of the Brockport culture. Irrespective of a student’s course of study, extracurricular activities, or entertainment tastes they will be offered the opportunity to participate in or attend an exceptional event sponsored by the Brockport Student Government during their time at The College.
