What a great summer in Brockton!

We had 252 young people join us for our 2026 Brockton After Dark summer program!

Our youth stayed active all evening long with a full lineup of 100% free summer activities, including:

🎾 Tennis
🏊‍♂️ Swimming
⚽ Soccer
🏈 Flag football
🎭 Drama

Participants also refueled with a free summer meal provided through the Summer Eats program.

A huge thank you to our 2026 Brockton After Dark staff for leading these activities, the parents and families for supporting their kids, and our incredible young people whose energy made this summer program such a huge success! 👏

Yesterday, we were honored to proclaim September 2, 2026, as “Zeca Nha Reinalda Day” in the City of Brockton!

Throughout an extraordinary 50-year career, Zeca de Nha Reinalda, the “Rei di Funaná,” has used music to preserve Cabo Verdean culture, unite generations, and inspire communities across the world.

The City of Brockton extends its deepest gratitude for his half-century of incredible artistry and cultural contributions.

Today, the City of Brockton had the incredible honor of welcoming a true cultural icon! Celebrating 50 years of sharing the Cape Verdean sound with the world, Zeca Nha Reinalda, the King of Funaná, treated us to three beautiful live performances. To mark this special occasion, Mayor Rodrigues officially declared September 2, 2026, as Zeca Nha Reinalda Day in Brockton.
