The new 3 way stop signs have been implemented for a week tomorrow. Drivers are still not obeying the correct way to drive with this 3 way stop. Please see below on the state law and how to correctly maneuver through this. Brodhead Police will be enforcing this and issuing citations for not coming to a complete stop, rolling stops, and disregarding stop signs.
Under Kentucky law (KRS 189.330), drivers must come to a complete, full stop at a marked stop line, crosswalk, or intersection. "Rolling stops" are illegal. Disregarding a stop sign carries a fine between $20 and $100 and adds 3 points to your driving record
Legal Requirements at Stop SignsWhere to stop: At a clearly marked stop line. If none, stop before the crosswalk. If no crosswalk, stop right before entering the intersection where you can see oncoming traffic.No rolling stops: Slowing down without coming to a complete halt is illegal, even if the road is completely clear.Right of way: After stopping, yield to any pedestrian or vehicle in the intersection or approaching close enough to be a hazard.Four-way stops: The first vehicle to arrive and stop goes first. If two vehicles arrive at the same time, the vehicle on the left yields to the vehicle on the right.
