Overall business of the organization is handled by a Board of Directors, consisting of five crew members and four non-crew members. We are a 911 emergency transport service licensed at the EMT-Basic level and currently operate with one ambulance. Flex staffing is utilized to allow higher certified providers to operate at their level, and use paramedic intercepts with Janesville Fire Department and
Beloit Fire Department when our ALS providers are not available. We are conveniently located with access to hospitals in Monroe, Janesville, and Beloit, with most of our transports being to Mercy Hospital Trauma Center (Level II) and Monroe Clinic Hospital. Another plus to where we are located is we have access to four different medical helicopter providers if the patient requires advanced medical care and quick transport. The helicopters that service our area are Medflight, REACT and OSF Lifeline out of Rockford, IL, and Flight For Life (based out of Waukesha). And new in 2013, Mercy Hospital Trauma Center implemented MD1. MD1 is physician emergency response vehicle and is staffed by an Emergency Physician at all times. MD1 is capable of responding to scenes requiring medical care that is more advanced than paramedic level, along with responding to mass casualty incidents so there is on scene medical control and the ability to triage patients to prevent overwhelming area hospitals with incoming patients. MD1 also has many more beneficial perks to area EMS agencies. Our current medical control is through Mercy Hospital Trauma Center. Being part of Mercy Hospital medical control, we were the first service in Green County to provide CCR (Cardio Cerebral Resuscitation) and we were part of the pilot program in the State of Wisconsin to get the statistics published world wide. In 2012, our call numbers increased dramatically and was our highest call rate ever for the service, ending with 514 calls for service. We cover approximately 100 sq miles (Green & Rock Counties) in our service area and includes the following areas; City of Brodhead and parts of Avon, Decatur, Magnolia, Spring Grove, Spring Valley and Sylvester townships.
