Meet the Team Monday: 911 Communications Manager, Stephen Bradley
Stephen joined the Broken Arrow Police Department in July 1981 as a patrol officer, where he worked all three patrol shifts. In 1986, he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant and served on the midnight shift. Following an on-duty collision in 1988 that ultimately led to his retirement from law enforcement in 1990, Stephen found a new way to continue serving the community he loves.
That same year, he began his career in communications, stepping into the role of Communications Director and Assistant Emergency Management Director. Today, as our 911 Communications Manager, Stephen continues to play a critical role in public safety, helping ensure that emergency calls are answered, resources are coordinated, and help reaches those who need it most.
Throughout the years, Stephen has remained deeply committed to service both inside and outside of the department. He has been involved with the Board of Tulsa Speech and Hearing and the Broken Arrow Amateur Radio Club, and he is an active member of The Church at Battle Creek.
Stephen's path to public service may have started long ago, but he still fondly remembers one of his biggest influences growing up, his gym teacher, Mr. Hester, who nicknamed him Technicolor, Brick Top, and Carrot Top. To this day, Mr. Hester remains one of Stephen's favorite teachers.
When he's away from work, Stephen enjoys tinkering with things around the house and, as he jokes, occasionally actually fixing them!
Stephen's career is a testament to resilience, dedication, and a commitment to serving others. Even after an injury ended one chapter of his law enforcement career, he found another way to continue making a difference. We are grateful for his decades of service to this department!
