A generous donor recently provided more than 400 brand new backpacks and lunchboxes to the Broken Arrow Police Department to give back to local students!

BAPD partnered with Broken Arrow Public Schools to make sure these items get into the hands of students who can put them to good use.

We are grateful for the generosity of this donor and always appreciate the opportunity to partner with BAPS to support students and families in our community!

Members of the CPA Masters Class had the opportunity to hear from Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler and District 27 District Attorney Jack Thorp

With Broken Arrow spanning both Tulsa and Wagoner counties, our officers regularly work alongside both district attorneys and their offices. The class learned more about that partnership, what happens after an arrest is made and the work that goes into prosecuting a criminal case.

MEET THE TEAM MONDAY | OFFICER JACOB DRAIN

Officer Jacob Drain began his career with the Broken Arrow Police Department in 2015 after graduating from Northeastern State University with a bachelor’s degree and completing an internship with the United States Marshals Service Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Throughout his career at BAPD, Officer Drain has served on day, evening and midnight patrol shifts and has continued to take on specialized roles within the department. He has served as a Field Training Officer since 2017 and is also a fi****ms instructor, Law Enforcement Driver Training instructor and IPMBA bicycle instructor. He holds multiple specialized fi****ms certifications and serves as an adjunct instructor for the police academy.

In 2023, Officer Drain joined BAPD’s Traffic Specialist Unit, where he currently serves as a motorcycle officer. His experience and instructor roles allow him to not only serve the community but also help train and prepare fellow officers.

Outside of work, Officer Drain has spent nine seasons coaching youth softball and enjoys staying active through motorsports, competitive shooting, softball and traveling by motorcycle. Most importantly, he values time spent supporting friends and family in pursuing their own goals.

For Officer Drain, serving Broken Arrow means serving a community he is proud to call home and helping make it a place where families can grow and find opportunity.

Thank you, Officer Drain, for your continued service to BAPD and the Broken Arrow community!

It’s time for your 9 p.m. routine!

Your vehicle is not a gun safe. Never leave a firearm unsecured inside your vehicle, even if the doors are locked. Remove fi****ms and other valuables, lock your vehicle and take your keys with you.

A locked door can help deter theft, but the best way to protect your belongings is to remove them from your vehicle.

Heading into the weekend and planning a group motorcycle ride? Take a few minutes before leaving to review the route, planned stops, hand signals and what to do if the group becomes separated.

Once you are on the road:

• Ride at a pace that is safe and comfortable for everyone.

• Maintain a safe following distance and use a staggered formation when conditions allow.

• Clearly communicate lane changes, stops and roadway hazards.

Always wear a helmet and appropriate protective gear, regardless of how far you are traveling.

Drivers, check your mirrors and blind spots, allow motorcycles the full width of the lane and give groups plenty of room. Let’s all do our part to make sure everyone arrives safely.
