Early voting is a convenient way for registered voters to cast their ballot before Election Day. With turnout expected to be lower than in previous elections, every vote has an even greater impact.

The decisions made in this election will help shape our community, businesses, schools, infrastructure, and quality of life. We encourage all eligible voters to make a plan to vote early and participate in the future of our region.

Policy decisions have real-world impacts.

If approved, State Question 832 could create long-term challenges for Oklahoma businesses by requiring automatic annual minimum wage increases beginning in 2030 with no cap or pause mechanism.

Potential impacts may include:
- Increased business costs
- Pricing pressures
- Staffing and scheduling adjustments
- Added strain on small and locally owned businesses

We encourage voters to review the measure carefully and consider its long-term effects on Oklahoma’s workforce and economy before voting in June.

The Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce and Broken Arrow Economic Development Corporation Boards are taking a position opposing Oklahoma State Question 832. This is not about whether wages should increase. Many Oklahoma businesses already meet or exceed the proposed path to $15 per hour.

Our concern is what follows.

Beginning in 2030, SQ 832 would permanently tie Oklahoma’s minimum wage to a federal inflation index, creating automatic annual increases with no cap and no future input from voters or the legislature.

This creates long-term uncertainty for employers and employees, removes local flexibility, and offers no safeguards during economic downturns.

We encourage our members, business community, and residents to review the facts, understand the full proposal, and make an informed decision in June.
