Coming Soon to Local Schools:
📣 Overdose Prevention Speaker Opportunity 📣

We are excited to share an important opportunity for our schools, students, and families. Loup Basin Public Health Department is partnering with a speaker who has lived experience with addiction and recovery to help educate youth on the dangers of substance use and the power of making positive choices.

Research continues to show that drug use often begins in adolescence, making early education and open conversations more critical than ever. By reaching students now, we can increase awareness, build resilience, and prevent tragic outcomes before they start.

This presentation will:
✅ Share a real-life story about addiction, recovery, and resilience
✅ Educate students on the dangers of substance misuse
✅ Inspire youth to make positive choices for their future

We are currently gathering interest from schools in our jurisdiction to schedule this opportunity. Schools, teachers, and parents — if your school would like to participate or get more information, please complete our interest form below:

Please be alert!

Our prayers are with the families of Jamaica. ❤️

Our prayers are with the families of Jamaica. ❤️

**Breaking** Hurricane Melissa is now a catastrophic category 5 storm. The monster is nearly stationary and only moving west at 3 mph. That is likely a sign that it is about to turn north. Sustained winds are now at 160 mph with gusts nearing 200 mph. The eye of the storm won't make landfall till tomorrow morning, but Jamaica is already seeing the heavy rain with this storm. The storm won't clear the island till late Tuesday.

My heart goes out to Jamaica. The entire country will have extensive devastation between the storm surge, extreme winds, and rain totals between 3 to 4 feet. The airports are closed, flights are not going in or out. The 2.8 million residents and many trapped Americans need our prayers now. They will also need a lot of help in the days, weeks, and months ahead. Jamaica will still be in the headlines on Halloween, but will you still remember their need on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and beyond once the news headlines are long gone? My hope is that the generosity for Jamaica will be just as powerful as the storm itself.
