COW CREEK FIRE UPDATE - LEVY COUNTY (April 25, 2026)

2000 acres and 40% contained.

Florida Forest Service wildland firefighters continue working on this fire with both night and day. They are on this fire 24 hours a day to address any fire activity.

This morning at 7:30am, Florida Forest Service crews reported that CR 343 and CR 346 were 'smoked in.' Visibility should improve later this morning as the smoke begins to rise.

Residents should be aware that smoky conditions will be present around the fire area for the foreseeable future. When smoke mixes with fog it creates 'super fog' conditions resulting in ZERO VISIBILITY which is extremely dangerous. Residents and commuters are urged to stay off the roads near the fire during the late night and early morning hours when these conditions occur.
