The Brook Park Police Department announced today that an OVI checkpoint will be held from 7pm to 11pm tonight on West 130th Street, in the City of Brook Park. The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. The checkpoint will also be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to combat impaired driver-related injury and fatal crashes. If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink. Don't let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.

Brook Park Police plans OVI sobriety checkpoint Thursday, August 27th 2026.
(City of Brook Park) - The Brook Park Police announced today that an OVI checkpoint will be held Thursday August 27th in the evening. The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. Based on provisional data, from January 1st to August 16th 2026, there have been 229 alcohol-related crashes in Cuyahoga County, in which 13 people tragically lost their lives. Ohio law prohibits the operation of motor vehicles while under the influence of alcohol and illegal drugs.
The location of the checkpoint will be announced Thursday morning.

K9 Odin and Sgt. Biglang-awa, along with our new officers, Wagganer and Torres, stopped by to support this young man with his journey to fix his broken game console. Stop by for a cold lemonade and snack. The boys will work until 4pm today.

This past Monday provided us lunch. Located at 8225 W. Ridgewood, known for its patriotic, first-responder themed interior and hickory-smoked meats. It was truly appreciated.

Just a reminder to our Safety Town Students and Parents.
For those enrolled in our 1st session (July 20-24), please arrive at the Recreation Center by 8:30 AM on Monday.
Officer Matt will briefly meet with parents / guardians after the drop off to discuss the plan for the remainder of the week.
Parents / guardians are reminded that students are to be picked up at 11:30 AM.
Students may bring a water bottle with them to class.

Please join us in congratulating Lieutenant George Sakellakis on his retirement after 28 years in public safety, from the Cleveland Emergency Medical Service to the Brook Park Police Department. Lieutenant Sakellakis has missed only one Home Days in his career, when he was called to serve with the Army in Iraq, where he would be awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He has been an ally of the community, a trusted friend to his police officers, and an ardent follower of the Peelian principles of policing. Happy retirement, Lieutenant Sakellakis!
