🚨🚨 Two-Vehicle Crash at Hwy 96 & 255 Sends Three to Hospital 🚨🚨

At approximately 12:32 PM today, our department responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 96 and Highway 255. The incident occurred when one vehicle failed to yield the right of way and was struck broadside by an oncoming vehicle.

A total of 10 firefighters and 5 apparatus were dispatched to the scene. Three individuals sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital for further evaluation and care.

We worked alongside DPS, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Jasper EMS, and Orange EMS to manage the scene and ensure the safety of those involved. Fire personnel also assisted with traffic control until the roadway was safely cleared.

⚠️ Safety Reminder: Intersections along major highways can be extremely dangerous. Always slow down, stay alert, and double-check for oncoming traffic before crossing or turning. A moment of caution can prevent a life-changing accident.

We are thankful for the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies and hope for a full recovery for those injured.

When Minutes Count: LZ Set Up for Emergency Airlift🚨🚒🚁🚑

At approximately 10:25 AM today, our department was dispatched to establish a helicopter landing zone for a patient experiencing a stroke in the Toledo Bend area.

Due to active MOA (Military Operations Area) airspace, the helicopter was unable to land at the patient’s location. Our team coordinated and established a safe landing zone at Total Care Clinic in Rayburn for the incoming PHI 5 medical helicopter.

We responded with 6 firefighters and 1 apparatus. Upon arrival, crews secured the landing zone, deployed a charged fire hose, and had personnel standing by to ensure a safe landing and takeoff.

Jasper EMS provided ground transport for the patient to the landing zone, and we appreciate their professionalism and teamwork in helping make this operation run smoothly. Their role is critical in situations like this, and we’re thankful to work alongside them.

PHI 5 successfully landed and transferred the patient, who was then transported to a Houston medical center for advanced care.

We’re proud of the quick coordination between all responding agencies to ensure this patient received the care they needed as quickly and safely as possible.

Rayburn Country Traffic Incident

Earlier today at approximately 12:15 PM, our department responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Edgemont and Wingate in Rayburn Country. Although we were not officially toned out, a unit was already in the immediate area and was able to respond quickly. Additional personnel were contacted and arrived shortly after to assist.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. One brush truck was used to block traffic and secure the scene for approximately one hour while the situation was managed safely. Some residents were required to take alternate routes during this time.

Texas DPS arrived on scene and handled the remainder of the incident. All units were clear of the scene by approximately 1:15 PM.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while we worked to ensure the safety of those involved and the surrounding area.

🚨🔥 SECOND WILDLAND FIRE RESPONSE – COUNTY ROAD 202 🔥🚨

Just about 10 minutes after clearing the scene from our previous fire, Lake Rayburn Fire Department was dispatched to another woods fire off County Road 202.

Due to high winds in the area, a tree fell onto a high-tension power line, which ignited the woods underneath and started the fire.

This call came in as a mutual aid request from the Pineland Fire Department in Sabine County. Lake Rayburn Fire Department responded with three apparatus and six firefighters. Upon arrival, two of our units quickly went to work containing the fire. 🚒🌲

Assisting agencies on scene included Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative, Texas A&M Forest Service, and the U.S. Forest Service. Texas A&M Forest Service worked to plow a containment line around the fire while the electric co-op handled the damaged power line.

Our department also deployed our aerial drone 🚁 to monitor the area and ensure the fire had not spread beyond the original ignition point.

We are always proud to assist our neighbors and work alongside our state and federal partners to protect the communities we serve. 🤝🚒🔥

🔥 Wildland Fire Response – FM 1007 & Hwy 96 🔥

Earlier today, the Lake Sam Rayburn Fire Department responded to a wildland fire near the new Station 2 off FM 1007 and Hwy 96. Due to strong winds in the area, a tree was blown down onto a high-tension power line, which sparked the fire.

Our department responded with two apparatus and six firefighters, who worked quickly to contain the fire and keep it from spreading.

We were assisted on scene by the Texas A&M Forest Service, who helped plow a containment line around the fire. Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative also responded to address the downed power line and make the area safe.

We appreciate the teamwork and quick response from everyone involved. We are proud to serve our community.

⚠️ With the dry conditions and wind we’ve been experiencing, it doesn’t take much for a fire to start and spread quickly. Please use caution with anything that could create a spark.
