What a week! Today’s your last chance to stop by Library Park from 1 to 5 PM and pick up a free banned book.

Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation, discovered new books, and celebrated the freedom to read with us this Banned Books Week. We’re proud to be part of a community that stands up for access to information. ❤️

For Day 5 of Banned Books Week, we’re highlighting the American Library Association's data documenting the concerning rise of book bans and challenges in 2025.

4, 235 unique titles were targeted for censorship in 2025, only 5 titles short of the highest number ever documented by ALA (2023) and significantly exceeding the average of 273 unique titles challenged over the period from 2001-2020.

Of particular note was the fact that 92% of censorship attempts were initiated by pressure groups, with less than 3% of book challenges originating from individual parents.
