Tonight, former EMS Captain James (Jimmy) Whiteside was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by our partners at Danbury Hospital as part of the EMS week awards ceremony and dinner.
This award "recognizes an individual who, by their actions and innovative thinking, contributed to expanding the future of the EMS field. The person’s contributions to pre-hospital care have been consistent and long lasting, representing a lifetime of outstanding service to the profession and the public."
For more than 20 years, James Whiteside has shown the very best of Emergency Medical Services through his dedication to patient care, education, and mentorship. He is known for his kindness, compassion, and thoughtful leadership. He has made a lasting impact on countless patients, colleagues, and future providers throughout his career.
As Training Captain with Brookfield, James played a key role in improving the department’s clinical skills by developing training programs based on evidence-based medicine. His commitment to education ensured that providers not only met standards but also grew in their knowledge, confidence, and ability to deliver excellent patient care. He consistently pushed for the tools, resources, and support employees needed to succeed both professionally and personally.
