Another evening with a downed power wire. Over the past few calls we have had some people from the public way too close to downed and burning wires. It is hard, especially in inclement weather at night to see where wires are on the ground.

Potential severe weather tomorrow and maybe some more wildfire smoke…

We will have to monitor the thunderstorm threat, especially Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. The RRFS model below is fairly robust as the cold front comes through later in the evening (around 10PM). It will be interesting to see if any wildfire smoke coming back in on Saturday limits this at all.

Garage Fire Quickly Contained on Ironworks Hill Road

Yesterday at 1:48pm, Brookfield Emergency Services were dispatched to Ironworks Hill Road for a reported structure fire. The first arriving unit reported a working fire involving a detached garage.

Upon the arrival of Car 6, a second alarm was requested due to two significant exposures: a vehicle parked in the driveway and a nearby balloon-frame residence. Firefighters immediately deployed crews to protect the residential exposure while simultaneously attacking the fire in the garage. Thanks to the quick and coordinated efforts of responding personnel, the fire was contained before it could extend to the home.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters, and no residents were displaced as a result of the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Brookfield Fire Marshal’s Office.

The Brookfield Fire Company would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our mutual aid partners for their rapid response and assistance at the fire and additional calls for service in town.
