The Officers and Members of the BVFC wish everyone a Happy and Safe Independence Day.
With the holiday weekend in full swing, the BVFC would like to share some fireworks safety points.
The link below will take you to a PDF file with more information.
Yesterday the BVFC responded to a 2 car MVA on Federal Road. Rescue 3, Engine 22 and ambulances 18-1 & 3 responded.
The BVFC would like to share some tips when driving through and active emergency scene.
When you approach and accident or emergency scene, Do not panic! Drivers who panic at the scene of the accident can cause another accident.
Do not stare. Keep your eyes focused on the road and what is ahead of you. Avoid “rubbernecking.” This can cause a slowdown and puts you, your passengers and others on the road at risk. Paying too much attention to the accident can cause you to miss brake lights ahead and dangerous road debris.
Pay attention to signs, detours and traffic patterns. Be a defensive driver and scan the traffic ahead, just not what is in front of you. This will increase your chances of being able to spot a problem, while still having enough time to react, which will decreases the chance of a rear-end collision.
Slow Down and move over! If on a multi lane road, move over if safe to do so to allow Emergency Crews to work safely. If you are unable to do so, drive well below the posted speed as personnel will be working close to the active roadway.
The Officers and Members of the BVFC wish Amanda Jweinat a very happy birthday today.
These photos are of our “Center Station” from 1955. This was before the addition of the west bays. We are proud of this beautiful building which is still in operation at Routes 25/133. (6 Obtuse Hill Rd.) Engine 5 and our EMS division are housed here.
Thank you to Mark Ferry for sharing and Clayton Ferry for taking these pictures back then.
Please use caution this afternoon as there is the potential for unsettled weather to occur.
An elevated severe weather threat exists this afternoon between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Watch for scattered strong storms capable of producing large hail and gusty winds. Not everyone sees a storm but some could be intense! #nbcct

Today is Flag Day. The BVFC proudly displays the American Flag on our stations, apparatus and turnout coats. We are a very patriotic organization and we love and respect our country and understand the sacrifices that were made by many for us to have the honor to fly the flag.

Today we posted a PSA for local residents to avoid the highway in Danbury as a peaceful, non violent segment of a protest had entered the highway. At no point was our post to be a platform advocating violence and negativity. The BVFC is a diverse family and community organization who does not tolerate calls for violence, racist comments or wishes for harm. We apologize if the post or its subsequent comments offended anyone, our intention was simply to advise people to seek alternate ways of travel.
We are keeping an eye on the potential for severe thunderstorms after 2pm today. We will update you with any weather alerts as the come out.
Our Brothers and Sisters of the Brookfield Police Department - CT are amazing public safety professionals. This letter from their boss just confirms that.

We are disappointed that we did not get to see some of our biggest fans during the Annual Memorial Day Parade. This family who lives along the parade route had a house fire Christmas morning in 2011 and the BVFC was able to help them salvage their holiday. They have never forgotten and and always give us a shout out during the parade.
Today, the BVFC remembers those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
As President Truman once said:
"Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices."
