🚑🏆 Brookfield Township Fire/EMS Receives American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline EMS Recognition Award 🏆🚑
We are proud to announce that Brookfield Fire Department has been awarded the American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline EMS Recognition Award, earning Silver Status for our commitment to providing high-quality emergency medical care to heart attack and stroke patients.
This recognition is based on key performance measures, including:
✅ Rapid transport to appropriate cardiac and stroke centers
✅ Performing 12-lead EKGs within 10 minutes or less when indicated
✅ Completing stroke assessments and blood glucose testing on suspected stroke patients
✅ Appropriate administration of medications such as aspirin for qualifying cardiac patients
While every emergency call is unique and no two situations are exactly the same, this award reflects the consistent, high-quality care our firefighters and EMS providers deliver every day throughout our community.
Mission: Lifeline awards are presented at Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels. We are honored to have achieved Silver Status this year. We were advised that the only reason we did not receive Gold Status is because agencies must first achieve Silver recognition in a previous year before being eligible for Gold. Based on our performance, we would have otherwise qualified for Gold this year.
This achievement is a testament to the dedication, professionalism, and training of our firefighters and EMS personnel who work tirelessly to serve our residents and neighboring communities.
Thank you for your continued support. We remain committed to providing the highest level of emergency medical care whenever you need us.

This afternoon, Brookfield firefighters were called
to assist Hubbard Joint Eagle Fire Department with a residential structure fire. Chief 18 and Tanker 28 arrived simultaneously to find a single story wood framed residential dwelling with heavy smoke and fire from the front and rear of the building . Chief 18 assumed Rt. 7 Command and Hubbard firefighters went to work making an aggressive interior attack on the fire. Also called in to assist were Liberty FD, Vienna FD, Youngstown Air Base, and Farrel Fire Departments. The fire was contained and extinguished quickly but unfortunately the home received extensive damage. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation by the state fire marshal‘s office. Hubbard and Brookfield Police Departments also assisted with traffic control.

Over the last week, your Brookfield Township Division of Fire firefighters pushed themselves through intense Search and Rescue training designed to simulate the dangerous conditions firefighters face when lives are on the line.

Joined by our mutual aid partners from Burghill Vernon Fire Department, Kinsman Fire Department, and Wayne Fire Department, crews trained side-by-side in high-stress, zero-visibility environments where teamwork, communication, and trust become critical for survival.

These weren’t simple drills. Firefighters trained in scenarios involving:
▪️ Window entry searches
▪️ Firefighter entanglement in downed wiring
▪️ Navigating compromised flooring and holes in the floor
▪️ Wall breaching for firefighter self-rescue
▪️ Victim removal and rapid intervention techniques

Every evolution tested physical endurance, problem-solving, and mental toughness while reinforcing the importance of working seamlessly together as mutual aid departments.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Ohio Fire Academy for selecting Brookfield Township Division of Fire to receive this incredible search and rescue training trailer opportunity. The hands-on experience gained this week will directly benefit the safety of both our firefighters and the community we proudly serve.

While many only see the lights and sirens, these photos show the unseen side of the fire service the sweat, training, preparation, and commitment required before the emergency ever happens
