The Town Park Beach is not open and will not open for Memorial Day Weekend. While the Town Park Beach remains closed until further notice, we do expect to open for the season at a later date. Detailed information will be released by mid-June.

If you plan to visit one of Connecticut’s State Parks this weekend, we encourage you to “know before you go” as many are closed to swimming, operating at reduced capacity or without lifeguards on duty at this time. https://portal.ct.gov/-/media/DEEP/stateparks/parks/Parks-Boat-Launches-Guidance-BOR-5-19-20.pdf?la=en

Saturday, April 25 at 7:00 pm

Please join us on Saturday April 25th as we join in making noise for Brookfield. From 7:00 PM - 7:05 PM. Gather outside your front door, grab your cowbell (you can never make too much noise!), pots and pans, bells, whistles and voices to celebrate all that is Brookfield!
Let’s give thanks to our:
Healthcare workers in hospitals and medical offices;
Firefighters keeping us safe, and bringing smiles to those celebrating birthdays as they drive by our homes with sirens blaring and lights flashing;
Police Department making sure we are safe and sound;
EMT’s on constant call to take our loved ones to get care;
Teachers virtually educating our children, and creating a parade to wave to their students;
Students working hard studying virtually;
Food handlers at grocery stores and restaurants
Neighbors sewing facemasks or assembling 3D parts for medical equipment;
Food Bank volunteers making sure everyone has food and home supplies;
Neighbors donating to the Brookfield Recovers Together special fund helping those affected by the virus;
Local businesses sharing their PPE masks and gowns to those on the front line;
Neighbors who are staying home to help keep us all safe and healthy

Brookfield Spotlight

The Still River Greenway is now CLOSED to the public until further notice.

March 26th, 2020 CORONA VIRUS UPDATE #8
To: All residents
From: Steve Dunn First Selectman

TOWN HALL CLOSED FRIDAY, MARCH 27
We learned this evening that a person who has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus was in Town Hall. With an abundance of caution and after discussing with the Director of Public Health, Town Hall will be closed tomorrow. We are trying to hire a company to do a deep clean of the building over the weekend.
Experts tell us that the virus does not live on surfaces longer than three days. Even though we have been cleaning the building daily, we want to keep our employees and the public safe by doing this additional cleaning.
We will decide this weekend if we can open Town Hall on Monday.

SELF DISTANCING
Brookfield has 24 confirmed cases of COVID-19, one of the state’s highest infection rates, based on population.
We have to make sure we are doing everything we can as a community to stop this pandemic. We can do that if each one of you, and your families, stays home and is extremely careful in public.
We will close the Still River Greenway starting Friday in an effort to help lower the infection rate. We ask that you do not go to our parks. We need every resident to leave the house only if absolutely necessary, to practice physical distancing at all times, and to wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds.
Remember that a very large percentage of those who have the virus have no symptoms and unwittingly may spread the virus. Here’s how you can help your fellow residents, many of whom are in the most vulnerable categories. Treat every encounter as meeting someone with the virus. Only in doing this can we successfully slow the spread of the disease.
When you shop, please do so by yourself, if possible. Do not allow your children to congregate in large groups, attend parties or sleepovers -- any activity that will bring children together.

[updated 8:40PM for town hall closure]

Ms. Janine

Ms. Janine will be singing and signing on Facebook Live, Thursday March 26 at 10:00am. If you've attended one of her programs with us at Kids Kingdom Playground, you already know how amazing she is. And if you don't know about Ms. Janine yet, we encourage you to join in on the fun tomorrow. (While enjoyable for all ages, Ms. Janine typically gears her singing and signing performances to toddlers, preschoolers and young school age children.)

While our programs are suspended for the time being, we encourage you to get outside and enjoy one of Brookfield's many open spaces. We'll be highlighting several in the coming days.

With over 200 acres in the heart of Brookfield, the Williams-Gurski Open Space (located at 185 Whisconier Road) features woodlands, streams, wetlands and hay fields. Parking is available at the main entrance, directly across from the Brookfield Library, as well as at the Gurski Homestead along Route 133.

Post a pic of your favorite view and tell us about your experience; we'd love to hear from you!

Has Kid’s Kingdom reopened?
When is the Greenway going to open?
I was on the Lake Road yesterday passing by Cadigan Park and the town beach. There's a "Stop Ahead" sign southbound but no stop signs where they ought to be in either direction (there are empty sign posts), nor was the light blinking. Is this to be expected? Seemed kinda dangerous.
Is there a decision yet about day camp this summer?
We did it! Found all 20 and had a great time exploring our town! Thank you, Brookfield Parks & Rec!
Closing the town parks??? HUH? Hope I heard this wrong. What an unhealthy thing to do for people trying to stay home/away from others yet stay healthy! A walk alone in the park (or with your dog) is the only way to do that.
Looking for clarification on Rec Basketball. Is there practice this week for Girls grades 2 and 3 and Girls grades 4 and 5?
The Village at Brookfield Common is excited to host a job fair on February 26th from 1pm to 6pm. Come meet our team and learn about our community!
Hey! I know I'm early with this question so no problem if you don't know yet :) I'm interested in the summer camp options for my 3.5 year old and 6 year old. I found this information in the booklet but was wondering what the camp times are and the pricing! Please let me know whenever you can. Thanks!!!
If anybody is looking for a safe, clean, absolutely incredible place to walk your dog, take a stroll through some grass, play frisbee with your family, or just soak in some nature..... I highly recommend the open public field on Nabby rd. I have lived in Brookfield for years and didn’t know it existed until recently- what a gem! 🤩🌳🌿🦮
Are you doing the letters to Santa this year?
What a great race despite the rain today! Thanks to the volunteers and organizers and the police who blocked traffic for us!
