🇺🇸 Memorial Day Weekend Safety Reminder from Linn County Ambulance District 🚑

This weekend’s goals:
✔️ Make memories
✔️ Eat too much BBQ
✔️ Keep all your fingers attached
✔️ Don’t make us learn your address personally

Stay hydrated, wear your life jacket, don’t drink and drive, and maybe save the “watch this” moments for after the holiday. 😅

We’d rather see your vacation photos than your emergency contact information.

Have a safe, fun, and blessed Memorial Day weekend as we also remember and honor those who gave everything for our country. 🇺🇸🚑

🚧🌧️ TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN! 🌧️🚧

Recent rains can quickly turn roads into dangerous situations. Just a few inches of moving water can sweep a vehicle away—don’t take the risk.

If you come across a flooded roadway:
➡️ Turn around and find another route
➡️ Never drive through standing or moving water
➡️ Remember: the road beneath may be damaged or washed out

🚨 If you see flooding or debris in the roadway, please report it to dispatch so crews can respond and keep others safe.

Your safety—and the safety of our community—depends on smart decisions.

Turn around. Don’t drown.

⛈️ Thunderstorm Safety Reminder ⛈️

Storms are rolling in fast, bringing heavy rain, lightning, and dangerous flooding. Please keep safety top of mind:

🚗 Never drive into flooded roads — even a few inches of moving water can sweep a vehicle away.
⚠️ Turn Around, Don’t Drown — it’s not worth the risk.
🌩️ Stay indoors during lightning and avoid open areas or tall objects.
📱 Keep weather alerts on and stay updated on changing conditions.

Your safety and your family’s safety come first. If you’re unsure, play it safe and wait it out.

Stay alert. Stay prepared. Stay safe

🌿☀️ Enjoy the Outdoors—Protect Yourself from Ticks! 🦃🍄🎣

With the nice weather here in Missouri, many of us are out turkey hunting, mushroom hunting, fishing, and enjoying the woods. While you’re out there, don’t forget—ticks are active too!

🛑 Tick Bite Prevention Tips:
• Wear long sleeves and long pants when possible
• Tuck pants into your socks or boots
• Use insect repellent with DEET or permethrin
• Stick to cleared trails and avoid tall grass
• Do a full body check (and check kids & pets) after being outdoors

🔍 Found a Tick? Here’s What to Do:
• Use fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible
• Pull upward steadily—don’t twist or jerk
• Clean the bite area with soap and water or alcohol
• Dispose of the tick safely (flush it or seal it in a bag)

⚠️ Watch for Symptoms:
If you develop a rash, fever, fatigue, or flu-like symptoms in the days or weeks after a bite, contact your healthcare provider.

Enjoy the outdoors safely and make the most of this beautiful Linn County Missouri weather! 🌳
