As the weather improves, we are seeing more e-bikes throughout our community. While e-bikes can be a great way to travel and enjoy the outdoors, it is important that riders and parents understand the laws, safety expectations, and responsibilities that come with them.

Please take a few moments to watch this important E-Bike PSA regarding Connecticut laws, helmet requirements, speed classifications, and safe operation.

Safety starts with awareness and responsible riding.

National Police Week 2026

National Police Week is a time to honor and remember the law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice, while also recognizing those who continue to serve and protect our communities each day.

National Police Week was established in 1962 when President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week surrounding it as National Police Week. This observance honors the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of law enforcement officers across the nation.

One of the most powerful moments of Police Week is the annual Candlelight Vigil, where fallen officers are remembered and honored. This year, 363 officers who died in the line of duty will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. The vigil will be livestreamed on Wednesday, May 13.

The women and men of the Brookfield Police Department sincerely appreciate the support and kind words we receive from our community each day. We are proud to serve the Brookfield community.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT – PLEASE READ & SHARE ⚠️

There’s a fake “court notice” circulating that looks VERY official, claiming to be from the Connecticut Superior Court Traffic Division. It says you’re in default on a traffic violation and demands immediate payment or threatens things like license suspension, collections, and court action.

🚨 THIS IS A SCAM 🚨

Here’s how you can tell:

It uses urgent, threatening language to pressure you
It may list multiple vague violations (tolls, parking, speeding all together)
It pushes you to pay immediately via QR code or unofficial links
You may have NEVER received any prior notice

💡 Important:

Real court notices do NOT randomly bundle violations or demand rushed payment through questionable methods. They also come through official, verifiable channels and allow you to confirm your case directly with the court.

✅ What to do:

DO NOT scan the QR code or send payment
DO NOT click any links
Verify directly with your local court if you’re unsure
Report it to local authorities or consumer protection

Stay alert—these scams are getting more convincing.
