And that’s why they are the CIAC Class L State Champions. They said we were the hardest team they’ve played yet! Okay, they didn’t say that, but we did have a ton of fun.

The Bobcats smoked us in our first ever BHS vs. BPD Softball Game.

Congratulations to an incredible group of athletes on an outstanding season and a well-earned state championship. We came into the game hoping for bragging rights and left with a reminder that playing against state champions is a risky career choice.

Thanks to the players, coaches, and fans for a great night.

⚠️ CYBERSECURITY AWARENESS ALERT ⚠️

A scam known as "brushing" continues to occur in our area, involving unsolicited packages delivered to individuals who never placed an order. While these shipments are often used to generate fake online reviews, some have reportedly contained electronic devices that may pose a cybersecurity risk.

If connected to a computer via USB, these devices may contain malware capable of compromising the system and exposing personal information.

To protect yourself:

• Do not plug unknown or unsolicited devices into any computer or electronic device.
• Be cautious of packages you did not order.
• Verify the sender before interacting with any unexpected shipment.
• If you have already connected an unknown device, consider disconnecting it immediately and contacting a trusted IT professional.

Remember: If you didn't order it and don't know where it came from, don't plug it in.

The photos below show an example of an unsolicited device that may be associated with this type of scam and should not be connected to any computer or electronic device.

If you heard sirens, horns, and what sounded like half the town celebrating tonight, don’t worry… it wasn’t an emergency.

It was the Brookfield Bobcats Softball team coming home as Class L State Champions!

In a hard fought battle, the Lady Bobcats took down SWC rival New Milford and captured their first state championship since 2000. That’s 26 years of waiting, and these girls made it worth every minute.

The ride home was fit for champions, complete with an es**rt from Brookfield’s emergency vehicles. So yes, the ruckus was intentional. And yes, they absolutely earned it.

Congratulations to the players, coaches, families, and everyone who supported this incredible run. Brookfield is proud of you!

Today, we officially retired K-9 Argo (K9-2) after ten years of dedicated and loyal service to the Town of Brookfield and the surrounding communities.

Throughout his career, Argo faithfully served alongside his partner, Sgt. Jeff Osuch, proving himself to be an invaluable asset to the Brookfield Police Department. During his years of service, Argo successfully tracked and located missing and lost individuals, apprehended criminals, assisted in countless investigations, and utilized his keen nose to detect concealed illegal narcotics. His work directly contributed to the safety and well-being of our community, our visitors, and those all around us.

Today, Argo transitions into a well-earned retirement where his duties will consist primarily of relaxation, chasing squirrels, and keeping Sgt. Osuch on his toes at home. While his days of patrol are behind him, his legacy of service and dedication will not be forgotten.

As we bid farewell to K9-2, we proudly welcome K-9 Goku (K9-5) to the Brookfield Police ESU K-9 Unit. Goku is partnered with Officer Travis Kullgren and has successfully completed his training and certification in Suspect Apprehension, Handler Protection, Tracking, Evidence Recovery, Building and Area Search, Crowd Control, and Firearm Detection. We would like to thank the Stamford Police Department Canine Unit for their continued partnership in canine training.

We wish K-9 Goku a long, healthy, and successful career serving the citizens of Brookfield and beyond.

K9-2 Argo, thank you for your unwavering loyalty, dedication, and service. You’ve more than earned it.

FRIDAY TORCH RUN – EXPECT TRAFFIC DELAYS

On Friday, June 5, 2026, Brookfield Police Officers will participate in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Connecticut, carrying the “Flame of Hope” through town in support of Special Olympics athletes.

Our officers will receive the torch from the New Milford Police Department at Faith Church and run south on Federal Road past Stew Leonard’s to Harley-Davidson of Danbury. From Harley-Davidson, officers from the Danbury Police Department will take over and continue the run toward Bethel.

The Brookfield leg of the run covers approximately 6.5 miles and is expected to begin at approximately 8:30 a.m. Motorists should anticipate slow-moving traffic and brief delays along Federal Road while runners and support vehicles are on the roadway.

Please use caution, watch for runners, and allow extra travel time if you will be in the area.

Thank you for your patience and for supporting Special Olympics Connecticut and the athletes who inspire us all.
