Brookfield Police Dive Team Completes Ice Diving Certification

We are proud to announce that the members of our police dive team have completed a rigorous two-day ice diving certification course. This diving certification is extremely dangerous and challenging both physically and mentally, and we are proud to be the only police dive team in the area with this certification.

This certification enables our team to be operational 365 days a year. We would like to thank the instructors from Scuba Shack for the professional training, knowledge, and experience.

We are absolutely blown away, yet not surprised, that our community gathered and made the 2020 Toy Drive an unbelievable success.

Deep down we were concerned that COVID would drastically impact this event. But once again, this wonderful community came together and collect roughly 10,000 toys! These toys will be donated to Yale New Haven Children's Hospital to benefit the children ALL YEAR LONG.

What most of our supporters don't realize is that these toys are not just for the holiday season. These toys are used to congratulate children on milestones, birthday, celebrate special occasions, and their discharge from the hospital. Your donations make a YEAR LONG IMPACT on these children.

Special thank you to:
Brookfield Vol. Fire Dept. Candlewood Company Inc, Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company, UPS, KICKS 105.5, Candlewood Coffee, Chick-fil-A Brookfield, Connecticut for assisting throughout the event. City of Danbury Police Department, Bethel Police Department, State Rep. Stephen Harding, Charter Oak MC and VFW Riders Connecticut Jason D. *** SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT ***

We know 2020 has not been an ideal year and there has been a lot of chaos and hardship. This is why we found it especially important to continue with our annual toy drive.

Our toy drive has always been an event where people come together in rain, snow, or shine to spread love, laughter, and joy upon one another. The greater picture has always been to ensure that the children who unfortunately have to spend their holidays in Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, still get a sense of normalcy and presents to open.

BECAUSE OF YOU... our toy drive not only provides gifts to children during the holidays, but all year long as well. These gifts are there to comfort them while they are in the hospital, no matter how short or long their stay. They are also used to celebrate a child's release from the hospital, their birthday, and special milestones.

Brookfield PD is asking you to join us on December 12th between 10 AM and 4 PM at #84 Federal Road (Five Guys/Kohl's parking lot).

As always KICKS 105.5 will be on location broadcasting and playing the latest country music. Anyone dropping off a new and unwrapped toy will be able to enjoy a warming cup of Candlewood Coffee and lunch provided by Chick-fil-A.

We look forward to seeing everyone on December 12th, between 10AM and 4PM.

**NOT SURE IF YOU CAN MAKE IT?**
**CONCERNED ABOUT COVID?**

We will have an outside, contactless, toy drop off located at the Brookfield Police Department. Look for the large white tent near the front entrance starting November 21st.

**ATTENTION** PLEASE READ AND SHARE

Friendly reminder... yet again... there has been an increase in motor vehicle thefts and thefts of property from unlocked motor vehicles.
PLEASE LOCK YOUR VEHICLES!
DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES INSIDE!

Complacency (leaving your car unlocked) is said to be one's biggest weakness. It (the criminal) creeps upon us when we least expect it (when you are sleeping).

We are proud of our dive team members and the relationship we have with our volunteer fire department.

When you have the right equipment, the right training, and the right support... missions will be successful!

Less than a week after our joint training with the Brookfield Police Department‘s dive team, DEEP requested the BPD’s dive team to investigate reports of a sunken boat. The BPD responded to the scene along with assistance from Candlewood Company and Marine 25.

Sunday night, DEEP contacted the BPD about a boat that witnesses saw overturn. The BPD made the request to Candlewood Company for their divers to once again use M-25 for a search and potential dive that night. After M-25 arrived with the BPD’s dive team and met with the DEEP officers on scene, Marine 25 did a search of the area and found the sunken boat with M-25’s sonar. After the investigation from DEEP, it was determined that the operator was able to escape from the sinking boat and this was primarily going to be a recovery of the boat. Since it was well into the night, the position was marked and Monday morning Marine 25 and the BPD dive team returned to the area to make the recovery. Within 30 minutes entering the water and searching the marked area, the dive team was able to find and lift the boat back to the surface. The vessel was taken on board M-25 and delivered to DEEP who took possession of the boat and its contents. The previous joint training between the two departments helped make this operation effective and ultimately successful.

Thank you for all you do for our community! We appreciate you! 💙
When leaving Target in Elm Grove today around 4pm, I saw 2 of your patrol vehicles pull someone over in the parking lot. Both officers approached the car and neither of them were wearing any face coverings. Thank god the pedestrian inside the vehicle only cracked their window because the Brookfield officers certainly were not concerned about following the state mask mandate. Waukesha County’s COVID-19 rates are at an all time high. If you truly want to protect public safety, it should be mandatory for your officers to wear at least a double ply face covering. It’s a simple gesture that shows you CARE about public health. I am certain this was not an isolated incident. Do your part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 ! Maybe if TMJ4 News made these types of practices public, your department would take this seriously.
Hi. Do you still have a couple parking spots for a safe meet-up for tag sale exchanges? TIA
Thank you for all the hard work you do for the whole Town of Brookfield for your good service for every emergency situations and protection, also from what I see sometimes online news doing a good assisting the fire departments and paramedics with all the auto accidents and every dangerous weather storms we have throughout whole year in every season.Good job BPD and to all our neighboring towns and cities working together and God bless America.
