Today, Brookhaven pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the reason we are able to enjoy the freedoms, safety, and community we hold so close today.

As we spend time with family, attend parades, fire up the grill, or enjoy the unofficial start of summer, let us also take a moment to reflect on those who never made it home…. and the families who carry that sacrifice every day.

Brookhaven is proud to stand together in gratitude, remembrance, and respect.

Recently, some borough residents received notices regarding their moveable basketball backboards. Please know that the Code Enforcement Officer was enforcing an ordinance adopted in 2018, which states all basketball backboards needed to be at least 15 feet away from the curb. This was written in order to maintain the safety of children playing in the street.

Borough Council and the Ordinance Committee will be looking into drafting new language to modify this ordinance, in an effort to provide flexibility for the residents while maintaining the safety of all borough residents.

To all who received these notices, the borough is NOT seeking to fine you. We ask for your patience while we are in the process of modifying this ordinance. We also ask for your cooperation in ensuring that all residents, big or small, are being safe. If your road is heavily trafficked, please stay off of it.

The water main break has been repaired and all lanes of traffic are open along Edgmont Ave.
