Commercial Structure Fire
Shortly after 10pm yesterday, our department was activated for an automatic fire alarm at a commercial business in Brookhaven. Our Monday night duty crew responded and arrived to smoke pushing out a garage bay door. Engine 2’s crew updated incoming units and deployed an attack line, putting water on the fire within 7 minutes of activation! Crews from Engine 8, Engine 5 and Rescue 3 assisted with the extinguishment and searched for fire extension and victims. Our Chiefs in command request mutual aid from neighboring departments while coordinating fire ground operations. Thank you to the Bellport Fire Department, Mastic Beach Fire Department, Mastic Fire Department Chemical Company #1 and Yaphank Fire Department for the support. Also the South Country Ambulance for on scene rehab for our crews.
The scene was turned over to the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal’s Office for investigation of the fire.
