Come out for our annual National Night Out next Tuesday! Mr. Softee will be there as well other light food options. See a live drone demonstration and other police and fire equipment. I heard rumors there will even be a dunk tank this year!

‼️Attention Brookhaven Residents and electronic device riders!‼️

As electric bicycles (E-bikes) and other electric devices continue to grow in popularity across Delaware County and the Commonwealth, parents and riders should understand the laws and safety requirements that apply to their use. Most electronic dirtbikes, uniwheels, and scooters are illegal to operate anywhere except private property.

Our officers have observed a rise in illegal riding on our roadways and sidewalks. This significantly increases the risk of injury, particularly for our juvenile riders who may lack experience to safely navigate roadways. We’ve also received complaints from private property owners regarding unruly and unsafe behaviors of juveniles operating these devices without permission of the property owner.

Brookhaven Police will be stopping individuals to provide them with the laws and proper safety protocols. Strict enforcement on this issue is beginning NOW! Violations may result in citations and possible impoundment of the device.

The safety of our citizens and the motoring public is our top priority. Parents should prohibit their children from operating these devices on sidewalks or roadways in the Borough.

The police department had a busy week in our community this week. Brookhaven Fire Co. Station 52 Delco, Pa and the PD assisted Coebourn students safely across Edgmont Avenue to the Borough Hall for Celebration Day on Tuesday.

The Fire and Police were invited by Coebourn 2nd grade classes to "Meet a Community Helper" on Wednesday where the students presented how our jobs connect with the 7 healthy habits they learn in school.

Thursday evening was a big one! Officer Adam Daley graduate from the Delaware County Municipal Police Academy. Chief Habich had the honor of presenting Officer Daley with his certificate at the ceremony. Officer Daley will be sworn in as a full-time police officer next week after he completes the certification exam.

Finally, today, Detective Wetten participated in the very successful Coebourn Bike Bus that has grown larger and larger each week. Patrol officers assisted the convoy with arriving and leaving the school safely.

Our department is committed to being involved and integrated with the community we serve. We are grateful every day that the staff at Coebourn and the Penn-Delco School District support and encourage such a great working relationship.
