You've undoubtedly heard the expression "time heals all wounds." As many pastors and counselors know, people still carry hurts from thirty or forty years ago. The truth is, time often makes things worse. Wounds that are left untended fester and spread infection throughout your entire body. Time only extends the pain if the problem isn't dealt with. Celebrate Recovery (CR) introduces a Biblical and
balanced program that has helped over a million people overcome their hurts, hang-ups, and habits (3Hs). Based on the actual words of Jesus found in the Sermon on the Mount, rather than psychological theory, the CR program has helped people for over 20 years to grow towards full Christ-like maturity with the 12 steps and 8 principles. EVERYONE! (18yrs+) Each one of us, if we get honest with ourselves, has something that needs to be dealt with in our lives. Just a few examples are:
- Addictions to persons, places, things, thoughts or actions (and yes that includes obvious addictions: drugs, alcohol, porn, gambling, over/under-eating, smoking, and other obsessive/compulsive habits);
- Character Defects (aka personality traits) such as misplaced shame, missing self-confidence, lying, cheating, stealing, anger, rage, depression, antisocial behaviors, etc.;
- Relationship Issues that can include marriage issues such as distancing, separation, divorce, fighting about the kid(s), and all sorts of communication issues within a family, and can also be a great benefit for learning to deal with parents, in-laws, step-family, blended family and other issues within the many combinations in today's family, and don't forget the relationships at work, play, church and other social areas of our lives which could also have various types of communication issues;
- Learning to put Christ first in our lives! CR has a wonderful plan to work through our human tendencies to rule the world around us and forget where to add Christ then learn to not only have Christ Jesus in our lives, but want to love Him, praise Him, and desire to continue to get to know Him. This program will take you on a path to get to know who Christ Jesus is, why He came to this earth for us, and take the challenge to really learn who He is. After going through the program of 12 steps / 8 principles you will have a great set of tools to apply to most life situations including where to find strength to work through them using the Bible. You can gain the confidence to make decisions that are Biblically based. CR is not allied with any denomination and does not take "sides" with any certain point of Biblical views, however, we learn from what OUR EYES have read and make an informed decision for ourselves on our beliefs in the Lord. CR is multi-cultural, and for men and women alike. CR has no opinion on outside affairs. CR is here to help us work on every hurt, habit & hang-up from major issues to something you may feel is too minor to deal with in this way. We are not here to fix each other - we are here to learn from each other and apply what we've learned from the Bible, the CR materials, and take these tools to use for our own decisions while we work on ourselves. Each Friday, the Lincoln County Women's Jail has a meeting but for only those being detained or any amount of time.
