"Dream big, believe in yourself, and never say “can’t!” ✨👑

Yesterday, our Elementary members had a special visit from Miss South Dakota's Teen Organization, Evian Johnson!

Evian spent the morning empowering our members to believe in themselves, recognize their strengths, and keep working toward their dreams—even when challenges come their way.

She shared her own experiences with dyslexia and how she has worked through those challenges without letting them stand in the way of her goals. Evian also shared that she will soon be heading to college to pursue Surgical Technology!

One of our favorite takeaways from her visit was her challenge to our members to remove the word “can’t” from their vocabulary and focus instead on all the things they can accomplish.

Evian also read Finding My Superpower, answered lots of questions, signed autographs, and took pictures with our members!

Thank you, Evian, for spending time with our Club kids and showing them that challenges don’t have to limit their dreams. We loved having you at the Club!

Creativity, Connection, and Community

The Teen Center would like to give a big thank you to Jenny from the Brookings Public Library for hosting arts and crafts activities throughout the summer!

Jenny has been an incredible community partner, bringing creativity, fun, and engaging projects for our members to enjoy. Through hands-on activities, she has helped create opportunities for youth to express themselves, try new things, and build connections with their peers.

We truly appreciate Jenny's time, dedication, and the wonderful partnership we've built with the Brookings Public Library. Community partners like Jenny help make the Teen Center a place where young people can learn, grow, and explore their interests.

Future PR pros in the making! 📣

Our teens hit the streets to help spread the word about our upcoming Back-to-School Bash. Along the way, they shared some smiles, promoted the event, and even tried to recruit a few new staff members to join in on all the fun the Club has to offer!

Join us tomorrow, August 18, for our Back-to-School Bash, where we'll have the Zoo Mobile, bounce houses, delicious food, games, and plenty of fun as we celebrate the start of a new school year together.

As summer comes to a close, we're getting excited for an amazing new school year! 📚

This is a friendly reminder that Family Orientation is required for ALL families, both new and returning. We will be offering both in-person and virtual orientation sessions to make attendance as convenient as possible.

All families must attend a Family Orientation session before their child can begin attending the Brookings Club on August 26.

We can't wait to welcome everyone back and look forward to another incredible year of learning, growth, and fun.

Creating Meaningful Experiences for Our Members

A huge thank you to our amazing community volunteer, Wendy Long , for the kindness, time, and dedication she has shown our members this summer!

Whether she's leading self-care discussions, organizing creative arts and crafts projects, or giving members the opportunity to tour the ambulance station, Wendy consistently goes above and beyond to create meaningful experiences for our youth. Her passion for helping young people learn, grow, and explore new opportunities has made a lasting impact on so many of our members.

Back-to-School Season is Here!

The first day of school is just around the corner, and we're excited to kick off another fantastic fall semester at the Club!

To help set everyone up for success, all families are required to attend a Family Orientation this year. Below, you'll find a variety of session options, including both in-person and virtual meetings.

No registration is required. Just choose the session that works best for your schedule and join us!
