Way to go Olivia and Taya! We’re so proud of you!!

We are incredibly proud to share that 12 students from Brookings High School have been selected as candidates in the United States Presidential Scholars Program.

These students were nominated and have now been advanced by the state of South Dakota as official candidates. This recognition places them among the highest achieving students in our state and moves them forward in the national selection process, where applications, academic records, leadership, service, and overall excellence are carefully reviewed.

We are especially proud to share that Brookings High School is tied for the highest number of candidates in South Dakota this year. This is an outstanding accomplishment and a true reflection of the dedication of our students, families, and staff.

Congratulations to these exceptional scholars. We are so proud of you!

FCCLA Week is almost complete! Throughout the week, we’ve featured trivia questions from the FCCLA category of Knowledge Bowl in our daily school announcements and we’ve sold Valentine’s Day Teddy Bears to help support our chapter. Additional celebrations are highlighted below!

🌹Monday: Member Monday
- Our members were recognized with a sweet treat! Additionally, we had the opportunity to advocate for FCCLA at the School Board meeting to share some of the amazing things we’ve been up to this year!
🌹 Tuesday: Day of Service
- Our members reflected on the community service we’ve taken part in as well as the upcoming events we have planned. Examples include delivering pumpkins to a local senior living facility, prepping for Adaptive PE Night, and so much more!
🌹 Wednesday: FCS Educator Day
- Advisers were so honored that the FCCLA officers surprised them with a gift of gratitude! Even more honored that one of our graduating seniors has chosen FCS Education as her future career pathway!
🌹 Thursday: Alumni Day
- Alumni from BHS FCCLA will be featured! If you would like to be featured in future spotlights, please send us a message for more information.
🌹 Friday: Wear your FCCLA gear
- We will be celebrating in RED! Students at the high school can look for FCCLA logos hidden in the hallways of BHS and redeem for a treat in the FCS room! Additionally, we’ll be hosting a bake sale at the high school during the basketball games (4-8PM). A portion of the proceeds will go to Head Start!

The Brookings High School FCCLA Chapter is hosting an event for children ages 3-11 on Saturday, January 17th from 12 pm-3 pm in the Jostad Gym. We are calling this event "Frost Fest" which is fitting for the cold weather ahead. Bundle up and join us for an afternoon of fun with a bounce house and carnival-style games. The entry fee is $5 per child. Concessions will be available throughout the duration of the event. Please enter through the B1 (South Doors).
