MABVI is a program of MAB Community Services. Our unique blend of programs and services enables individuals to learn to live confidently with vision loss.

For over 100 years, the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (MABVI), has been committed to supporting individuals living with vision loss. We provide vision rehabilitation and support services throughout Massachusetts to more than 1,200 adults, primarily older adults, who are blind or visually impaired. Programs include access to low vision clinics, peer empowerment support groups, one-to-one volunteer assistance, in-home vision rehabilitation, adjustment counseling/mental health support, and access/assistive technology training.

We had an amazing time representing MABVI at the UnitedHealthcare 2026 Health Expo at Gillette Stadium last month! Thank you to UnitedHealthcare for being such great hosts - even Daisy (our guide dog) got her own nametag!

We also appreciate everyone who stopped by our table to learn more about MABVI and the services and opportunities we provide. Thank you for joining us in our efforts to support the blind and low vision community!

Today is National White Cane Awareness Day! Every October, we celebrate the independence of the white cane and the achievements of the blind and low vision community!

We also help to raise awareness of the White Cane Law in Massachusetts which requires drivers to identify and yeild to pedestrians using a white cane or dog guide at street crossings. The annual Massachusetts celebration will take place on Friday, October 23rd at the State House from 11am to 1pm.

Thank you MEDITECH for inviting us to table at the 2026 MEDITECH Wellness Fair last month! We are so grateful to have represented MABVI at such an amazing event.

MEDITECH's 2026 Wellness Fair provided space for local organizations to connect over resources focused on health, well-being, accessibility, and community. Our staff had a wonderful time sharing MABVI's many programs and volunteer opportunities!

Happy Good Neighbor Day! Today, we would like to thank our wonderful one-to-one volunteers for MABVI, who show dedicated neighborliness through aiding participants with blindness and low vision with everyday tasks and forming long lasting friendships. We are so grateful to have them in our community!

We had a great time at Stand Down Greater Boston 2026 for Veterans, hosted by the New England Center and Home for Veterans at Boston City Hall Plaza! Thank you to everyone who came to visit us there.

This event comes in conjunction with a major announcement from Meta, that Ray Ban Meta AI glasses will be donated to blind veterans across the United States. To learn more about this opportunity, please read the announcement from the Blinded Veterans Association at their website:

MABVI, a division of MAB Community Services, Inc. is a proud 2026 grant recipient of the Catholic Health Foundation!

Daisy (pictured here) was so excited when we told her that she asked for a photo with the announcement poster, and who are we to deny her that?

Thank you to the Catholic Community Fund for supporting the work that MABVI does to support blind and low vision individuals in Massachusetts. We are very grateful to be recipients of this grant!
