PEACE MESSAGE TO ALL MUSLIMS RESIDING IN LIBERIA AS THEY COMMENCE A MONTH-LONG FAST AND PRAYER SERVICES

Ramadan (Fast Month) is one of the pillars of Islam and the most in the precious month in the Islamic calendar (Hijri). It is obligatory for the Muslims at residence and in good health to fast for the entire month of Ramadan. For nearly a quarter of the world’s Muslim population, Monday marked the start of Ramadan, a month-long holiday of fasting, praying, spiritual introspection, and charity to clean one’s soul. It is indeed a very important Islamic duty.
About 98% of the Liberia Muslims joined majority of the world’s 1.6 billion Muslims to commence fasting on Monday morning after a long night prayer and spiritual supplications on Sunday night. As relations between Muslims and Christians in Liberia remain fraught due to the constitutional preposition #24, Ramadan serves as a reminder of the peaceful qualities of our fragility and tolerable relations.
Brothers and sisters with uncompromising courage and courteousness inn Islam, I bring you plentiful Islamic salutations from the bottom of my heart and from the creator and sustainer- Allah /God. In due accordance with your long standing Islamic Sunnah/Tradfition, and luminous legacy as Muslims, exceedingly proud of your history and heritage that speaks about the observance of this obligatory fasting during this Holy Month of Ramadan, we join you in your prayer for the nation and its people.
In this dispensation of economic difficulties where thousands of Liberians, more especially our Muslim brothers and sisters remain vulnerably exposed to visible poverty, yet Muslims brothers and sisters in obedience of their faith and conscious of their obligation to their Creator, are eager to observe the Holy Month of Ramadan.
At this point in time when our brothers and sisters in Islam are in huge rush to fulfill their obligation Allah/God and show their obedience to the Creator of heaven and earth, it is our utmost and foremost duty as believers ourselves to extend thanks and appreciations to all of our Muslim brothers and sisters who have commenced their fasting during this Holy month in the Hijri.
May the Peace and Blessing of Allah/God be upon us all as you go through the observation of this Holy Month of Ramadan.
In conclusion, we read that it is part of the obligation to ask Allah/God for forgiveness for everyone during this special spiritual period.
In view of this and as we prepare to bid UNMIL farewell during these electioneering months ahead, we wish to appeal to all Muslims residing within the borders of Liberia, to use these occasions of fasting and praying to also evoke Allah’s/ God’s abundant blessings upon the people and nation, as we sail during these tempestuous period in our history. Let us join hands and appeal to Allah/God to smoothen our transition in the absence of the multi-UN forces with tolerance, humility, understanding, ardent engagement and genuine forgiveness in nurturing our peace by promoting peace and peaceful co-existence amongst us; and above all, accommodating one another by putting the past behind us and forging ahead as a people with one common destiny and purpose for the betterment of the human race and development for all. We hope and pray that all Muslims will do it as an initiative to forgive all those who have wronged them during the months past as they pray for forgiveness for themselves, from the one and only one common Creator so that Allah/God will multiply bestow His blessings and grant us all paradise here and the hereafter.
