Beware of fraudulent scams. Elderly victims are reporting phone calls from people posing as family members requesting money to post bond due to them being arrested.

Also reports of FAKE officers calling and saying you have a federal warrant for failure to appear for jury duty, and you need to pay a fine to clear the warrant.

These are SCAMS to steal your money. Call 216-741-2700 to report these types of calls.

⚠️ Power Outage Schaaf Rd ⚠️

⚠️ TRAFFIC ALERT / POWER OUTAGE NOTICE

Due to a gas leak in the City of Independence near the intersection of Rockside Road and Brecksville Road, electrical power has been shut off in the affected area to allow crews to safely manage the incident.

As a result, residents near Schaaf Road may also experience power outages or service interruptions.

Please use caution if traveling through the area and obey all traffic control devices and directions from emergency personnel. If you encounter intersections with non-functioning traffic signals, treat them as a four-way stop.

If your power is out:
• Use flashlights instead of candles whenever possible.
• Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed to preserve food.
• Never operate generators indoors or in attached garages due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
• Call 911 only for emergencies.

We appreciate your patience as utility crews and first responders work to safely resolve the situation.

We had a wonderful time at Art in the Park Safety Day!

A special thank you to our guest speaker, Sara M, Safety Squad Coordinator with University Hospitals, who spoke with the children about important bike and water safety tips.

Officer Townsley also put on an exciting drone demonstration, and the kids even had the opportunity to ride around in the golf cart with the Chief!

Thank you to University Hospitals Safe Kids for all of their help and support in making this event both educational and fun for everyone who attended!

🚨 Air Quality Advisory for Brooklyn Heights Residents 🚨

Due to the hazardous air quality conditions affecting Northeast Ohio today from Canadian wildfire smoke, Fire Chief Michael G. Lasky is urging all residents to remain indoors whenever possible.

Current conditions have reached levels where the air can be unhealthy for everyone, not just those with pre-existing medical conditions. Health officials recommend:

• Stay indoors with windows and doors closed.
• Limit all outdoor activity, including exercise and yard work.
• If you must be outside, consider wearing a properly fitted N95 mask.
• Check on elderly family members, young children, and anyone with heart or lung conditions.
• Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

The safety of our residents is our top priority. We encourage everyone to take these conditions seriously until air quality improves.

Please continue to monitor local forecasts and official air quality updates throughout the day.
