Happy Independence Day!

Since 2019, Minnesota has experienced 2 fireworks-related deaths and 132 injuries, with one being in Brooklyn Park. Please help keep your family, neighbors, and community safe by following these simple safety tips:

• Only use fireworks that are legal in Minnesota.
• Light fireworks in an open area away from homes, trees, and dry vegetation.
• Never point fireworks at people, animals, vehicles, or structures.
• Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby.
• Soak used fireworks in water before disposal.
• Never attempt to relight a malfunctioning firework.
• Closely supervise children around all fireworks.

Law enforcement may seize illegal fireworks, and violations can result in fines or jail time.

Celebrate responsibly and help ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday for everyone!
