❄️🤖 Our 1st graders became little programmers over the last few months while building snowmen with algorithms!
We learned how coders use functions to repeat steps over and over again. For example, our “Build the Base” function told us exactly what pieces we needed every time we built the base of the snowman.: Body, Head, Feet, Arms
Then we explored conditionals using if/else statements:
➡️ If you chose green earmuffs, add a blue scarf.
➡️ Else, add a red scarf!
To finish, partners worked together to “code” their robots by following algorithms another group had written. They had to travel to all the correct snowman pieces and carefully follow the directions step-by-step.
It was amazing to see teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity all mixed into one snowy coding adventure! ☃️💻✨
