We've been selling a lot of books in our book sale, but not near enough dvds. So today, all dvds in the sale are 5 for $1.

Yesterday we had our last summer event, the taste test challenge for 9th-12th graders, and it went very well! I think that's how we'd describe this whole summer. So many people came to see us for books, but even more came for programs like: The annual paper airplane contest, the bubble show, navigation play, bagpipes, Tournament Tuesday, learning about p**p in Landes Park (thanks for giving the kids what they want Amy Andrews Durbin), red light green light at Malcom City Park, and Monarchs at Brooklyn Community Estate. Thanks to everyone who sponsored the summer reading program, for Friends of the Brooklyn Library; Books for Brooklyn, Iowa and Bear Creek Kids Campus for sponsoring the entertainers. Thanks to our community for your continual support and showing up in big and small ways. We look forward to doing all this and more next summer!

Today's the day 9th-12th graders can show up and do a blind taste test to see if they know their Casey's food. While you're here, look for the hidden Casey's buck, and show us you got the libby app on your phone. These will all give you chances to win a $25 Casey's gift card, so show up from 4pm-5pm to participate!

Our Friends of the Library is challenging our community's teens to a taste test and digital reading challenge! On August 20th from 4-6pm, students going into 9th-12th grade can come in and participate in a blind taste test of various Casey's items, as well as look for Casey's bucks, both that give you a chance at a drawing to win a $25 Casey's gift card! If you have a smart phone you can also show us that you've downloaded the libby app and connected it to our library for another entry! Thank you Friends of the Brooklyn Library; Books for Brooklyn, Iowa for throwing out this fun back to school challenge!

All Story Times for the month of August are offsite at Bear Creek Kids Campus. Every Wednesday from 9:30am to 10am our Library Director Josh Gerard will sing songs and read stories to the kids there, plus all other kids who come to visit during this time.

Story Times at the library will resume September 9th.

Don't forget that this Wednesday at 10am there will be a private movie screening for everyone who hit all ten summer reading goals. Thanks to Brooklyn Opera House for providing such a special reward for our young readers. We hope you have a great time!

On Monday at 5:30pm, 9 different summer reading participants are gonna win one of these 9 gift cards. This has been a great incentive for our summer readers. These prizes were made possible by the generous donation from the estate of Norma Jean Warner.

If your child has not turned in their trading logs you have till 1pm Saturday to do so!

As we announced last week, we are only doing offsite Story Times for the month of August. From 9:30am to 10am you can find Josh at Bear Creek Kids Campus singing songs and reading books and giving high fives.

All kids are still invited to this even if you don't regularly go to Bear Creek Kids We hope to see you there for Story Time in the month of August.
