This week marks 25 years of International Overdose Awareness Day. As we mark this important milestone, we honor those we've lost, recognize the progress we've made, and recommit to protecting that progress as punitive drug policies continue to target people who use drugs, disproportionately impacting people of color, q***r and trans communities, and those living at their intersections.

These policies undermine bodily autonomy, safety, and dignity.

We call for solidarity and collective action rooted in the visions and resistance of q***r and trans people and people who use drugs. Donate to Housing Works today to support our advocacy for overdose prevention centers, harm reduction programs, and comprehensive healthcare.

On Sunday, activists from Housing Works, Health GAP, TAG, Treatment Action Campaign and others from directly impacted countries worldwide disrupted a session hosted by the US government at the AIDS conference in Rio de Janeiro. Activists protested to call attention to the Trump administration's gutting of Congressionally Appropriated HIV Funding, Mass Closure of Key Population Programs, and Attacks on PEPFAR.

Congress must act now to restore PEPFAR, protect domestic HIV funding, and protect decades of progress in the global fight against HIV. We will not go back.
