The Friends of Walker Tavern are looking for volunteers (18+) who enjoy history, community events, and meeting new people. Whether you can help occasionally or throughout the season, your time can help bring these exciting celebrations to life.
Just a couple hours a month can make a difference!

Let's make some amazing memories! Please be aware that Cambridge Junction Historic State Park will be closed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, June 5, 6 & 7 for the thrilling MIS race weekend. Although the Walker Tavern Farm & Craft Market won't be happening on Sunday, June 7, it's going to be a comeback like no other on Sunday, June 14 at 10am-2pm! We're gearing up to celebrate Flag Day in the most uplifting way possible! 🇺🇸 Join us for an afternoon filled with exciting trivia, delightful festive crafts, and awesome prizes! It's going to be a fantastic day at the market, see you there!

Have you been missing our Walker Tavern Root Beer? Stock up on Sunday.

Don't miss the first Walker Tavern Farm & Craft Market of the 2026 season this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.! Visit the market inside Cambridge Junction Historic State Park to find local produce, baked goods, plants and more. The market runs every Sunday this summer, except for June 7. See you there!

The Recreation Passport also helps to maintain the buildings and grounds at Cambridge Junction Historic State Park and Walker Tavern.

When you purchase your Recreation Passport you are helping purchase and preserve habitat for hundreds of species of birds across Michigan. The Recreation Passport not only allows you access to thousands of acres of State Land, but also helps ensure that land will be available for future generations.

This week’s bird is the Pileated Woodpecker, the largest species of woodpecker in North America.
These birds can be up to 20” long with a 2 foot wing span. They require large areas of woods to find food and build their nests. They build their nests by carving out holes in trees. The next year the hole will be used by another species of bird or animal for a home.

Lake Hudson Recreation Area is a year round home to at least 2 pairs of these magnificent birds. They can be seen in the wooded areas of Lake Hudson, as well as around the use areas such as the beach and boat launch.
