Music has a remarkable way of bringing people together. 🎻✨

Members from RiseBoro’s Roundtable Older Adult Center experienced Lincoln Center Moments: The Great Innovators, a relaxed Chamber Music Society performance created for individuals living with disabilities and dementia.

These special programs make the arts more accessible while creating space for joy, connection, and community. Thank you to Lincoln Center for making moments like these possible for our RiseBoro community!

"What people need to know is that someone is on their side."

In a recent conversation with Schneps Media, our CEO, Kieran Harrington, reflected on the principle that has guided RiseBoro's work for more than 50 years: stronger communities are built with neighbors helping neighbors.

That belief is at the heart of everything we do. From affordable housing and supportive services to education, older adult programs, and community advocacy, RiseBoro works every day to help New Yorkers build stability, opportunity, and connection.

Kieran also shared a candid reflection on the work ahead: "We're not perfect, but we want to do more to get people the support they deserve."

With more than 1,000 affordable homes on the horizon, we're committed to continuing that work—one neighbor at a time. Listen to the full podcast conversation to learn more about RiseBoro's impact, vision, and how you can get involved: http://bit.ly/4e03uxs

This month, volunteers from RiseBoro’s Friendly Visiting Program gathered to celebrate the friendships, conversations, and connections they’ve built with older adults across our community.

Over a shared meal, volunteers reflected on the moments that matter most and were recognized for helping combat social isolation through the simple but powerful act of showing up.

Thank you to every volunteer who reminds us that connection is one of the greatest gifts we can give.

This Older Americans Month, RiseBoro partnered with Citi volunteers through Safe Banking for Seniors to host a Flowers & Finances workshop that helped older adults recognize scams, prevent financial exploitation, and grow more confident managing their finances safely. 🌸

Like any strong community garden, these workshops are rooted in connection, trust, and support across generations—values that are central to both RiseBoro’s and Citi’s work.

Thank you to everyone who came out and to BloomAgainBklyn for making this event bloom! Join RiseBoro in creating community and connection across the city: https://riseboro.org/join-us/

🎉 Last week, we gathered with residents, partners, supporters, and community members to celebrate the opening of Bethany Senior Terraces—a new chapter in a legacy of care and community that spans more than 100 years. 🎉

This project brings 57 permanently affordable homes to older adults in East Flatbush, including supportive housing for seniors who have experienced homelessness. But this is about more than housing. It's about creating a place where people can age with dignity, build connections, and feel a true sense of belonging.

We're deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this vision a reality. And most importantly, congratulations to the residents who now call Bethany Senior Terraces home. We are honored to be part of your journey.

Continuing our spotlight on Dattner Architects’ projects selected for the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation’s (.nyc) Built by Women 2026: New York City exhibition, Alafia is the second of ten Dattner projects recognized by the jury.

Located in East New York, Brooklyn, Alafia is a wellness-oriented, resilient neighborhood shaped by a coordinated vision for housing, health, sustainability, and community resilience. Through a public-private-nonprofit partnership with L+M Development Partners (), Services for the UnderServed (), Apex Building Group, and RiseBoro Community Partnership (), the plan brings together affordable and supportive housing, open space, community resources, workforce development, and sustainable infrastructure.

The master plan was designed by Dattner Architects and SCAPE (), with Dattner Architects leading the first and third phases of the project. Phase 1 includes 576 affordable and supportive homes, a clinic, courtyards, walking paths, retail space, and a Maintenance Hub to support the full development.

Dattner Architects’ project leadership included Project Manager Jen Switala, with design team members Deniz Secilmis, Kavya Cherala, Habiba Akhtar, and Sahar Baghaii.

Alafia reflects the impact of women’s leadership in shaping equitable, resilient, and community-centered urban development.

In partnership with , , and , we are proud to launch 1000, a multi-year initiative to secure employment for 1,000 unemployed young adults from Bushwick.

We kicked off with our first job fair yesterday morning where more than 90 attendees joined us to learn about available from across the Borough. We're excited to ramp up this effort and support hiring and employment for our Bushwick neighbors.

The funds provided by the Brooklyn Borough President will help support this effort over multiple years.

We are proud that has included our project, The Atrium at Sumner, in its list of Best New York City Architecture of the Past Decade! They describe this Bed-Stuy home as a place where, “Residents, many of whom have aged into isolation or come from long sojourns in shelters, now have somewhere safe and warm and supervised where they can get reaccustomed to quiet socializing.”

Thanks to our partners Urban Builder’s Collaborative (UBC)/ , we were able to deliver 190 units of 100% affordable housing for seniors and people who are formerly homeless.
