An officer with the Brooklyn Police Department located this dog in the 7700 block of Henderson Ford Road. The Morgan County Humane Society has been notified and will be taking custody while efforts are made to locate the owner.

If this is your dog or you know who the owner may be, please contact the Morgan County Humane Society.

🎆🇺🇸 NEW DATE ANNOUNCED! 🇺🇸🎆

The wait is over!

The Brooklyn 4th of July Fireworks Show has been rescheduled for Sunday, September 6th, with fireworks beginning at dusk at Brooklyn Kids Park, 3277 E. Centenary Road.

🚗 Parking will be available at Brooklyn STEM Academy, 251 N. Church Street.

🚶‍♀️ Visitors are encouraged to utilize the walking bridge from the school to the park.

♿ Parking at Brooklyn Kids Park will be restricted to handicap-accessible parking only.

We sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience, understanding, and support following the weather cancellation. We look forward to bringing our community together for an evening of celebration, family fun, and a spectacular fireworks display.

Mark your calendars, bring your lawn chairs, and join us as we celebrate the spirit of Independence and community on September 6th!

🚨🇺🇸 FIREWORKS SHOW CANCELED 🇺🇸🚨

Due to inclement weather and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our residents, visitors, and event staff, tonight’s fireworks display at Brooklyn Kids Park has been canceled.

A new date will be announced at a later time once arrangements have been finalized.

We understand this is disappointing, especially for the many families who were looking forward to celebrating together this evening. However, the safety of our community will always remain our top priority.

We appreciate everyone’s patience, understanding, and continued support. Please continue to follow the Brooklyn Police Department page for updates regarding the rescheduled event.

🎆 BROOKLYN FIREWORKS ORDINANCE REMINDER 🎆

The Brooklyn Police Department would like to remind residents and visitors that consumer fireworks are permitted within the Town of Brooklyn only during specific dates, times, and circumstances as outlined in Town Ordinance §131.02.

Unlike some municipalities, the Town of Brooklyn has chosen to allow the discharge of consumer fireworks under these limited exceptions. We ask everyone to enjoy the holiday responsibly and be respectful of your neighbors and visitors to our community.

✅ Permitted Dates & Times:

📅 June 29th-July 3rd & July 5th-July 9th�🕔 5:00 PM until two (2) hours after sunset

📅 July 4th�🕙 10:00 AM until 12:00 Midnight

📅 December 31st�🕙 10:00 AM until 1:00 AM on January 1

🚫 Fireworks are prohibited at all other times within the town limits.

📍 Fireworks may only be discharged:�• At a designated special discharge location;�• On your own property; or�• On the property of another person with their permission.

❌ The discharge of fireworks in public streets, roadways, alleys, or other public rights-of-way is prohibited.

👨‍👩‍👧 Persons under 18 years of age may not possess or use fireworks unless an adult is present and responsible at the location.

Please be courteous, keep a safe distance from homes and vehicles, have water or a fire extinguisher nearby, and clean up debris after your celebration. A little consideration goes a long way toward ensuring everyone can safely enjoy the holiday.

🔥☀️ HEAT ADVISORY: Indiana has officially moved three inches closer to the sun. ☀️🔥

If you see two fire hydrants fighting over a dog today… mind your business. They’re going through a lot. 🐶🚒

All jokes aside, today’s heat is no laughing matter. Please take a few simple steps to stay safe:

💧 Drink plenty of water. If you’re thirsty, you’re already behind the curve. Skip the extra caffeine and alcohol if possible.

❄️ Stay cool. Limit time outdoors, take breaks in the shade, and enjoy that air conditioning you’ve been complaining about all winter.

👵👶🐾 Check on family, neighbors, pets, and the elderly. Some people may not realize they’re becoming overheated until it’s too late.

🚗 Never leave children or animals in a vehicle. Not for a minute. Not with the windows cracked. Not ever.

👮 If you see Brooklyn Police Officers, firefighters, EMS crews, utility workers, or road crews out working today, give them a wave—they’re out there keeping things running while Mother Nature is running a convection oven.

Be smart. Stay hydrated. Stay cool. And remember: if your flip-flops start sticking to the pavement, it’s probably time to head inside.
