Today we express our condolences for the deaths of two heroes: Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr. of the Boston Fire Department and retired Connecticut State Police Trooper Nick Leary.

We extend our thoughts and prayers to their families, friends, and all those who served alongside them. Their dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting others will never be forgotten.

Rest easy, brothers. Your service and legacy will live on.

Today, we have lowered our flag to half staff in reverence of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.

This weekend holds deep meaning for the fire service across our nation. It is a time to pause, reflect, and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in the line of duty—those who answered the call without hesitation, putting others before themselves, and making the ultimate sacrifice.

Behind every name is a story of courage, commitment, and unwavering dedication to protecting their community. They were not only firefighters, but also family members, friends, and neighbors. Their loss is felt far beyond their departments, and their legacy continues to live on in the service and sacrifice we strive to uphold every day.

We stand alongside fire departments across the country in remembering our fallen brothers and sisters. We also hold their families close in our thoughts, recognizing the strength and resilience they carry each day.

As our flag flies at half staff, may it serve as a visible reminder of the price that has been paid and the honor it is to serve.

Gone, but never forgotten. Always honored. Rest in peace, we will take it from here.

This week is National Volunteer Week, and we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to our members who give so much of themselves. You don’t just respond to calls—you show up, time and time again, to train, to learn, and to grow stronger so you can be there for others when it matters most.

Your commitment, your heart, and your willingness to serve make a real difference in the lives of those we care for and in the strength of this team. We see the time you give, the effort you put in, and the sacrifices you make—and we are truly grateful for each and every one of you.

We also extend a heartfelt thank you to our volunteer mutual aid departments. Your partnership, support, and willingness to answer the call alongside us never go unnoticed. Together, we strengthen our communities and ensure help is always there when it’s needed most.

Thank you Atwood Hose Fire Company for the great training last night!

Last evening, we hosted Mortlake Fire Company and East Brooklyn Fire Department for our annual hazardous materials refresher training.
This has become a long-standing event each spring where the three departments get together to review basic concepts of responding to incidents involving potentially hazardous materials.

This week is National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, and we want to take a minute to recognize the voices on the other end of the radio.

We would like to give a big thank you to the dispatchers at Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communications, Inc. You’re the ones who answer the calls, keep things moving, and make sure we have what we need before we even get on scene.

Things can get hectic fast, but you stay steady and keep everything running. We appreciate the teamwork and everything you do for us and the community.

We couldn’t do it without you. 🚒📞
