NYCC is happy to announce that our Fall 2026 free education program will be starting again soon!

Our NYCOFI/NYCC Community Education Courses are offering GED Test Prep and Digital Literacy & Computer Skills classes, starting August 25th to December 17th.

All skill levels are welcome!

Computer Skills & Digital Literacy starts September 8th. One of our Computer classes is held in person at our office at 470 Vanderbilt Ave. Floor 9, Brooklyn, NY 11238, with computers provided; just come ready to learn! The rest are held on Zoom.

All GED Test Prep classes are held on Zoom, with noon and evening class options.

Zohran Mamdani should stand up to ConEd with the Gas Free NYC agenda. Nine New Yorkers were arrested today blocking the entrance to ConEd’s HQ while demanding that Mayor Mamdani help keep money in New Yorker’s pockets. Mamdani can do this while reducing city-heating, asthma-causing pollution and creating good union jobs. We’re looking to Zohran to lead!

Everybody should know the name Romanch Mahajan.

Romanch was just 18 years old. He and his family came to New York to visit our city. Instead of taking home memories from that trip, his family went home mourning the loss of their son after a tragic horse carriage incident in Central Park.

This should never have happened.

That’s why NYCC supports ending horse-drawn carriages in New York City once and for all.

And we believe we can do it the right way.

Protecting public safety should never mean leaving workers behind. That’s why we’ve worked alongside our coalition partners to push for a just transition that gives carriage drivers a real path into safer, stable jobs.

New York can protect workers, protect the public, and move beyond an industry that no longer belongs on our streets.

Seeing her family navigate immigration issues, economic hardship, and structural racism shaped her commitment to justice. A Columbia alumna, Darializa also organized for Palestinian rights and helped lead the 2023–24 Columbia encampment. Her career is rooted in the belief that working-class communities in upper Manhattan and the West Bronx deserve real investment, dignity, and power.

is a public defender, policy advocate and community leader who has spent his career fighting for justice and standing up for people. For over a decade, he has represented individuals in court who can’t afford to pay an attorney, and as Policy Director for The Bronx Defenders, Eli has successfully led statewide criminal justice campaigns to make New York more fair and compassionate.
