AWE Portfolio After School begins the week of September 8, 2025! If you have a teen/tween who wants to put together a portfolio for an art high school or college, please consider AWE Portfolio. We get AWE students into all the top art high schools. If you have a teen who just wants to make art in an inclusive studio environment, please consider AWE Portfolio. We offer so many art forms; drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, figure drawing - even ceramics! There's still room in AWE Portfolio Mondays Session 1. Classes are 4-6 pm. A student can arrive as early as 3:30 pm. There are 6 classes per session. AWE Portfolio Wednesdays Session 1 is full. AWE Portfolio Tuesdays was just for high school students but, we are allowing middle school students to join. There needs to be at least 10 students for the Tuesday class to happen. Unlike the Monday and Wednesday after school classes which are 4-6 pm, AWE Tuesday classes are 4:30-6:30 pm. A student can arrive as early as 4:00 pm. AWE Portfolio Saturdays also starts September 20 and ends November 22. AWE Saturdays is only for portfolio students working on portfolios for art high school admittance. The hours are 12-4 pm. A student can stay for 2 hours or up to 4 hours.

AWE After School begins in late January, 2025. Middle School students can choose Mondays or Wednesdays: 4-6 pm. High School is on Tuesdays: 4:30-6:30 pm. AWE After School is perfect for teens. We specialize in portfolio development.

• AWE is perfect for 8th graders who want to make art in a studio environment, try new mediums like oil painting or sculpture and long-term projects.

• AWE is perfect for 7th graders to start high school portfolios by learning how to draw what they see and build their art skills. They'll work on still-lifes, self-portraits, start drawing the figure and create personal art.

• AWE is perfect for 6th graders to try all the different art forms and mediums we offer and expand their art horizons.

• AWE is perfect for high school students working on portfolios for college or just wanting a place to create. AWE provides space for large pieces and is an inclusive studio environment.

AWE Summer 2024 is starting to fill up. AWE is perfect for portfolio prep for NYC art high school admittance. AWE students get into LaGuardia more than any other art high school. Art & Design comes in 2nd with Frank Sinatra and Murrow in 3rd. We offer so many art forms and mediums. AWE is an inclusive studio environment, located in DUMBO Brooklyn. There are 7 sessions this summer to choose from: 9:00 am until 3:00 pm, 5 days a week. Session 1 is 3 days long due to the July 4th holiday. 9 Scholastic Art Awards were given to AWE teens for 2021! 1 Gold, 3 Silvers and 5 Honorable Mentions. AND the teen, Sarah Grimsted, who won the regional Gold Medal went on to win the National Gold Metal! That makes me a winner too as her educator! AWE Summer is now open for enrollment and AWE After School Session 3 begins in mid April.

AWE After School is still going strong. AWE Portfolio was a success. Everyone has followed the COVID protocols making the studio a safe place to create. There are two more after school sessions; Session 2 starts the week of March 8. The AWE Summer Application is now onlne for registration.
