Yesterday, our firefighters and EMTs were proud to support the Brooklyn Elementary School Field Day!

Our crews brought ET-190 down to help fill the dunk tank, providing plenty of fun for students and staff. It's just one more example of how we support and engage with our wonderful community beyond emergency response.

Want to support your community too? We're always looking for community members to get involved in any capacity. Stop by on Monday nights or send us a message to learn more!

đźš’ Apparatus Spotlight: Ladder-190 đźš’

Ladder-190 is a 2001 Pierce Dash. Equipped with a 105-foot aerial device, a 300 gallon tank, and a 1500 GPM pump. Ladder-190 provides critical access to some of our community’s tallest buildings, including Walmart, Creamery Brook, and Pierce Memorial.

Ladder-190 can reach upper floors for fire suppression, perform rescues, or provide an elevated master stream, Ladder-190 plays a vital role in protecting our residents, businesses, and visitors. Its impressive reach and versatility make it one of the most valuable pieces of apparatus in our fleet.

Did you know?

Brooklyn is home to nearly 8700 residents and is protected by all volunteer firefighters?

A fully paid fire department would require 24/7 staffing, salaries, benefits, retirement costs, and overtime adding millions of dollars in expenses over time and significantly impacting local taxes.

Our volunteer members provide emergency services, training, and community support while helping keep costs manageable for taxpayers. They’re not just serving the community they’re your neighbors, friends, and family members.

Volunteer service continues to be one of the best values for the Town of Brooklyn, and we’re proud to answer the call when our community needs us most.

Think you have what it takes? Come see us Monday nights 7pm!

Today, two firefighters from the town of Brooklyn had the opportunity to participate in their Firefighter 1 live burn!

Our firefighters have been attending class since February, and today they finally got to put their training and skills to the test in a live fire environment. We’re proud of the hard work and dedication they’ve shown throughout the class and look forward to seeing them continue to grow in the fire service.

Thank you to all the instructors and burn tenders present today! Back To Basics Fire Training

đźš‘ Happy National EMS Week! đźš‘

Mortlake’s dedicated Vintech and Volunteer crews provide 24/7 EMS to the Town of Brooklyn. We are extremely grateful that there are still people in this world who dedicate so much of their time to helping others. The care and compassion that our EMTs provide is nothing short of amazing.

If you see our crews around this week, make sure to show them some appreciation!

đźš‘ HAPPY EMS WEEK 2026! đźš‘

This EMS Week, we’re proud to highlight the dedicated crews and communities we serve — and first up is the amazing team at Mortlake Fire Company 🚑

Mortlake responds to approximately 1,200 EMS calls each year as a BLS 911-only service, providing dependable emergency care to their community day and night.

This year is especially meaningful as Vintech proudly celebrates 20 years of partnership with Mortlake, providing EMS staffing support since 2006. We greatly appreciate the continued support, trust, and partnership that Mortlake has shown us over the years, and we are honored to continue serving alongside their department and community.

Led by Site Supervisor EMT Carolyn Bannon, the Mortlake team is built on professionalism, dedication, and pride in patient care. Carolyn says she believes Mortlake has “some of the best EMTs in northeastern Connecticut,” and we couldn’t agree more.

Thank you to all of the EMTs serving the Mortlake community for your hard work, compassion, and commitment to EMS. Happy EMS Week! 💙🚑
