Today is an extra special Throwback Thursday: it’s the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Brooklyn!
On August 27, 1776, British and American forces fought throughout Brooklyn, culminating right here at the Old Stone House. The Americans were greatly outnumbered, but the Maryland 400 bravely held the line, enabling the rest of the Patriot forces to escape across the Gowanus creek to safety.
On August 22nd, we held a reenactment and commemoration of the Battle of Brooklyn. Thank you to our incredible staff, board, and volunteers who worked to make this event possible.
