It is with unimaginable sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Sergeant Jeremiah "Reggie" Crowley.
Sergeant Jeremiah “Reggie” Crowley was born and raised in the Ironia section of Randolph Township, where he remained a lifelong resident with his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Shannon, and his daughter, Ryan.
Reggie was a proud graduate of Randolph Township High School, Class of 1998. He went on to earn an associate degree from County College of Morris before completing his bachelor’s degree at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
A member of a family with deep roots in the Randolph community, Reggie was well known and respected by those around him. Before beginning his career in law enforcement, he was the owner and operator of a local luncheonette in Randolph, where he became known for his welcoming personality and his willingness to serve others. He eventually traded his apron for a police badge, beginning a career dedicated to protecting and serving his community.
Reggie graduated from the Morris County Police Academy in 2010 and began his law enforcement career with the Morris Township Police Department. He proudly served Morris Township until 2014, when he made the decision to join the Randolph Township Police Department, returning to serve the community that had shaped so much of his life and identity.
Throughout his career with the Randolph Township Police Department, Reggie distinguished himself through his commitment to public service and his dedication to the residents of Randolph. He was recognized with numerous accolades, including life-saving awards, in recognition of his courage and service to others. In February 2026, Reggie was promoted to Patrol Sergeant after serving as interim sergeant for several months.
Outside of his career, Reggie cherished his time with his family and friends. He shared his daughter’s love of equestrian life, taking great pride in owning horses and building a stable on his property. His family was at the center of his life, and the time he spent with them brought him tremendous joy.
Reggie was known for his outgoing personality, genuine warmth, and infectious smile. He had a remarkable ability to brighten any room he entered and made those around him feel welcome. He took great pride in his work and genuinely enjoyed coming to work each day, knowing that he was making a difference and providing quality service to the community he loved.
Reggie’s life was defined by family, friendship, service, and an unwavering commitment to his community. His presence touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, fellow officers, and the Randolph community he so proudly served.
In 2017, Reggie was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. At the time, he was given a prognosis of just six months to live—a prognosis that he would ultimately defy for nearly eight years. Throughout those years, Reggie faced extensive treatments at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center with remarkable strength, courage, and determination. Despite the challenges he endured, he remained an active-duty police officer, continuing to serve the Randolph community for as long as he was able. It was simply who Reggie was; he would have it no other way.
Today, we honor the life of Sergeant Jeremiah “Reggie” Crowley—a devoted husband and father, a beloved friend, a dedicated police officer, and a proud member of the Randolph community. His courage, resilience, infectious spirit, and commitment to serving others left an enduring mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though Reggie is no longer with us, his legacy and the footprint he left on the Randolph community will live on forever.
