MTMS students were hamming it up for their live readings of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” recently. Our 8th grade thespians have been preparing for the annual Shakespeare Festival tonight at MTMS. They’re developing a deeper understanding for the writing and characters of the story. Make sure you don’t miss the performances!

Mrs. Dawes’ second graders got the chance to head west on the Oregon Trail during their visit to Wild West City. They stepped back in time to learn through hands on activities as they explored life for an American pioneer.

The training and performance of the MTMS Girl’s Lacrosse team hasn’t been lax this season! They came back this season and defeated the only two teams that bested them last season, showing grit, determination, and sportsmanship as they represented MTSD proudly. Go, Bulldogs!

Congratulations to MTMS students on finishing your NJSLA testing! Your hard work and efforts paid off. After finishing their tests, students enjoyed S.L.A.Y. Day where they practiced self-love and relaxation, had a sweet treat and participated in fun activities all day. It was all courtesy of Mrs. Ferenc and Mrs. Medina.

Greaser or Soc? Fitting in or standing out? These questions and more were debated in Mrs. Dragon’s ELA class. After reading “The Outsiders” students demonstrated their reading comprehension with a debate on the themes and lesson from the book, using examples from the reading to defend their point.

It’s always nice to get a simple reminder of why MTMS students are stars and with the Star Reading Competition it’s even more fun! Students compete by reading and tracking their literary comprehension, serving to encourage great reading habits and tracking student progress. High achievers enjoyed a pizza party with Dr. Ciccone.

You’re never too young to give back to the community, a lesson Mrs. Porrovecchio and Mrs. Glander were happy to teach their first graders recently. Inspired by a career day visit from Mrs. Springer, students helped collect food for the Mendham/Chester Food Pantry.

It’s not every day that you get to step back in time to the colonial era, but every year MTES students get the chance to learn about what life was like during Colonial Crafts day. The day features traditional crafts and period costumes!
