Chinsegut Conservation Center Chinsegut Conservation Center is an environmental education facility managed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Located six miles north of Brooksville, the Chinsegut Conservation Center is an environmental education facility managed by FWC that offers outdoor skills and conservation education programs to the public. Fun educational programs connect visitors with biologists and wildlife experts to explore and become familiar with Florida’s unique and sensitive natural areas. Outdoor skills programs such as a

rchery, wildlife signs and compass navigation are offered seasonally as weather permits. The center is located on the Chinsegut Wildlife and Environmental Area, which is home to many wildlife species that can be observed throughout the year. Catch a glimpse of gopher tortoises, white-tailed deer, bobcats, sandhill cranes or turkeys from the hiking trails or at May’s Prairie. Chinsegut Conservation Center is the only educational facility operated by FWC's Public Access Services Office. Our mission is to serve the people of Hernando County and the surrounding area with high quality programs that educate people about wildlife, enable them to enjoy wildlife and empower them to take action to benefit wildlife.

3D Archery is back at Chinsegut this Saturday, June 6th!

Calling all archers, bring your own bow and arrows and hit the range with us. Sign-in starts at 8 am, and the range opens after a safety briefing at 9 am. Enjoy a fun and challenging course set in the great outdoors, perfect for sharpening your skills and connecting with fellow archers. We’ll also have a delicious food truck on-site, so come hungry!

Chinsegut Conservation Center will be at the Hernando County Public Library (Spring Hill Branch) tomorrow, Thursday 6/4 from 1 to 2pm, to introduce visitors to the best outdoor recreation opportunities on local FWC managed lands. We can’t wait to share about our scenic trails and top birding spots.

Looking for something fun, educational, and outdoors this summer? Our Chinsegut Summer Camps are the perfect way for kids ages 10–13 to explore nature, build confidence, and make lasting memories!
