Suncoast Credit Union FOUNDATION PROVIDES $215,500.00 TO HERNANDO COUNTY EDUCATION FOUNDATION

Spring Hill, FL -The Hernando County Education Foundation announces a charitable gift of $215,500.0 from the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation. The funds will support educational initiatives throughout the 2026-27 academic year, aimed at enhancing student success in the Hernando County School District. These efforts will focus on advancing academic achievement and fostering growth for all students.

Suncoast Credit Union, Florida’s largest credit union, founded the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation to promote the education, health and emotional well-being of children in the community. Each time a Suncoast member uses their debit or credit card, the credit union donates four cents to the Foundation to fund local initiatives. Since its inception in 1990, the Foundation has raised and donated over $61 million.

We are accepting nominations for our 2026–2027 Teacher of the Year program, and we would love your help with nominations for the outstanding educators in Hernando County!

The attached nomination form includes eligibility requirements and instructions. Anyone may nominate an eligible educator, including board members, parents, students, community members, and school staff. If you know an educator who makes a meaningful difference for students, please consider submitting a nomination or sharing the form with others.

Nominations will be accepted October 5–19, 2026, and completed forms must reach the appropriate School/Department Selection Committee by October 20, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.

We will host the Teacher of the Year Celebration on January 22, 2027, from 6:00–9:00 p.m. at Leadfoot City in Brooksville. It will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our educators and show support for their work.

Thank you for helping us recognize the teachers who inspire, encourage, and create opportunities for our students every day!
